Array Uhm,
My grandsons started 2nd and 4th grade yesterday. I'm happy for them.
Brian And yet, to me, what is this quintessence of dust?

Array Speaking from experience, mission is *not* complete until said youngling has graduated and is living elsewhere The only way to atone for being occasionally a little over-dressed is by being always absolutely over-educated. -Oscar Wilde -

Array Mom2Fencers here: there have been a few "adjustments" like on Day2 of academics:-) where he speedily transferred to another Eng H class and that was a good learning process...ROTC has had them working hard in the mornings and they poured beverages at the first home game. Then fencing came in on Sunday from 7am-1pm and clearned up the stadium with the rugby team...Good hard, dirty work... I think overall is going well. I am going up with a friend next Thursday for a few days to visit. -

I am still missing my kid pretty badly.
The Momster If she has managed to go to South Korea, St. Petersburg, Beijing, most countries in Europe - well, then North Carolina should not be unsurmountable. She will do just fine!

I still have my "Cookout" tshirt. It's like McDonalds, only better. Much better. Also, cheaper. -

Array We've just sent the oldest off to University of Edinburgh to get her Master's and my baby is happily enjoying her freshman year at Columbia. Whatever the distance - across the ocean or across the river - my nest is bare and I am having a hard time adjusting. My kids are thriving away from home, although my side job as travel agent to the stars (my kids) is apparently continuing, so I know we did good. And people tell me it actually gets easier as time goes bye, that eventually you come to enjoy a house without kids. It's just hard to imagine...
And don't keep telling me - well at least she (the Columbia kid) is close by - she can always come home or you can go visit... Close by is not in her bed or at the dinner table, and being, hopefully, a good mom I want her to enjoy her college experience without any more parental interference than would occur if she were at school far away. So I just miss them both.
At least I can go see her fencing meets! Woo!
