The 2008-09 New Jersey Fencing Alliance Youth Cup is set to begin!! Last season over 350 fencers competed in this first-class youth competition. The first event of the season will be Saturday Sep 27.

Points are awarded for first 5 places in each event. Points are cumulative and prizes are awarded to the top 3 point finishers in each event at the last tournament of the series. This is a great opportunity for young fencers to gain valuable tournament experience, whether pursuing Cup prizes or not.

Events scheduled this season: Sep 27, Oct 12, Nov 8, Jan 4, Feb 15, Apr 19, May 24, June 21. Double points will be awarded Sep 27 and June 21.

These events are sanctioned by the NJ Division of the USFA and ratings can be awarded, however youth events do not use the E1 or D1 classifications. This means that these events are “NR” until they achieve a C1 level or higher.

NJFA is located at 50-58 Burnett Avenue; Maplewood, NJ, conveniently located near all major highways in NJ, NY, CT, and Pennsylvania, and only minutes from Manhattan by train or car. NJFA is only 1.5 miles from the Maplewood Train Station.

NJFA is a state-of-the art 17,000 sf fencing salle offering 18 grounded metal strips with machines located in the middle as well as repeater lights at each end. FREE Wireless Internet service as well as FREE parking.

the on-line entry deadline for the first event in the NJFA youth cup series is friday sep 26. So far 157 fencers from over 35 clubs in the US and canada are registered. This is the first event of the 2008-09 series. This is fantastic tournament experience for all young fencers born 1994-2002. hope to see you there.

The next event in the New Jersey Fencing Alliance Youth Cup series will be Sunday, Oct 12. The first event featured 188 fencers from over 45 clubs in US and Canada. The tournament experience was fantastic and Y14 Foil was a C2 event! On-line registration ends Saturday, Oct 11.

For all you regulars - we have made some changes in our start times so be sure to check the FRED listing carefully for the upcoming November 2 event.

the next event is scheduled for sunday nov 2 and on-line entry closes nov 1. so far over 160 fencers are registered and again (for the 3rd straight event) the Y14 foil is a possible C2 event !!
