Array Sponsorship/Advertising Was adidas the only brand that paid to have their logo displayed? If so, did adidas pay to have their logo on a product they actually made? If not, what is the rule, if there is any, on companies slapping their name on things they did not make? Is this the first time it's happened in fencing? Is this something only seen in the Olympic games?
Is it just me or does anyone else feel it (would be) wrong to logo something that was not made by that company? I thought something was fishy when I didn't see the dynamic three black stripes running down the leg to clash with the USA logo.
I saw a related post in a thread I can't find discussing some of the issues, but I can't find it. If anyone has any additional info on the original makers of the fencers' knickers, the information would be greatly appreciated. -

Array I don't know about Adidas, but I did notice that the Italian teams had the Kappa logo on the back arm of their jackets. I thought that was odd because I'm pretty sure Kappa doesn't make fencing gear. The FIS website lists them as a sponsor. That looks to me like a workaround of any rules about displaying sponsors' logos.
I also thought it was strange that Italy had their country graphics down the front arm rather than the back. Similar Threads -
