| The whole thing is a farce. The rule isn't working. It's encouraging fakery (and btw, I would do the same), and it's dangerous for athletes who are genuinely injured but forced to fence on. |

| Or is this just another indication of how obsequious the FIE will be to avoid fencing being dropped from the Olympics?

I don't know if other sports have annoyances like this, but I would expect they do.
| Gymnastics doesn't require that all their athletes compete. Do they all get medals? How about soccer, etc? |

I don't know whether or not he (the announcer) was correct. Hard to believe.
edit: pictures show only the 6 who competed on the medal stand.
Korea (5th place) used only 5 of the 6 gymnasts they had suited up. It would be interesting to know if the 6th would have received a medal had they finished higher.

| F%$%$% NBC cut the whole thing out from the video on the site!
There is Robeiri scoring 35th touch, then a few replays and then
they show grumpy Jeannet sitting on the strip, adjusting tape on his hand
by himself.... score is 38-24 and 1:58 left in his bout...
I did not want to wake up at 4:30 AM PST to see it live because
I knew who would win, but now I want to see the whole thing and I can not
/rant off

| So, did they take Durante to doping control as well?
Not only is Lucenay not allowed to compete, but to add insult to injury, they even took him to be controlled...

| Accept for the Eurosport article, all the articles are in French. (There are days I really wish I took French instead of Spanish in high school)

| Eh, don't sweat it dude. Lol, we went to the same high school and I took French, and I don't understand most of these things for nada either. There are a few phrases here and there, but yeah... Unless you take it for 3 or 4 years, but I guess I was a slacker.
