| Why so much blue? Is it just me or is the whole stadium (floor, walls, women, refs) plastered in that same uhlmann blue color? Any reason for this? |

| All the referees are wearing blue jackets. You can see it in the other sports as well.
It's definitely not an Uhlmann thing. |

| Strange question, possibly sarcastic, possibly irrelevant, but this is my area.
Every Olympics has its own "identity," which consists of an official logo, official mascots, official music, official design elements and official colors, among others. The color scheme of the venues was simply chosen to unify the look of the Games and to harmonize with the other official elements. Here are some of the other official marks: http://en.beijing2008.cn/spirit/beijing2008/
In addition, there's a good chance that blue was chosen for its meaning in Feng Shui.
In the case of the Atlanta Olympics everything was a cool green. |
