| I'm not sure what your criticism is.
Are you being sarcastic?
The way you phrase it it seems as if you think the fact that his opponent was a world class athlete should make the outcome less likely.
In general not a very intelligent or constructive post.

i think cleveland is being sarcastic and replying to criticisms made on kelsey's athletic shape in the epee thread.

You do realise that HALF of the athletes that go to Beijing to fence go out in their first fight don't you? |

It appears in Kelsey's event 24 athletes survived the first DE in which they fenced while 17 went out in their "first fight".

| The Heidenheim is generally considered the toughest epee comp in the world, and the most physically demanding. If you medal in that, you are a world-class athlete.
I'm curious to those that don't think Seth is a good athlete how many have actually fenced him? I am even more interested in seeing them say that to his face and be surprised what “fat” can do.
My question is why are no other world-class epee fencers committed enough to do the amount of high-altitude training that Seth does? Don’t they even care?

The only way that it can be other than a 50% drop out is if there is an incomplete 64 and someone who earned a bye gets beaten by someone who didn't.
If you look at it less literally Seth effectively won his first fight 15 - 0 by being highly ranked and earning a bye. |

| This is Janet. I fenced Seth in the Military Championships a few years ago while he was at the Academy. Seeing his picture recently, his face appears much rounder, more filled out than it was at that time. I did get two touches on him.
