| Men's Epee Individual Discussion After the string of upsets that plagued women's sabre, what do you think of the chances of the top seeds in Men's Epee today?
Italy is looking for its first gold in this event in 40 years. Tagliariol of Italy boasts winning records against Kulcsar and Wang, but is 0-4 vs. Jerome Jeannet. How will he fare in his first Olympic Games?
Wang Lei (CHN) was the silver medalist in Athens. Can he do what Tan Xue was unable to and hold onto his seed and make it to the medal rounds again?
Seth Kelsey comes in with the #5 world ranking and seeded 6th into the elimination brackets. His first match is most likely against Fabrice Jeannet. |

| I'm watching Li vs Wiercioch right now and I noticed that they aren't bothering with keeping left handed fencers on the left.
Also, Li had on a mask that I couldn't see a logo on, certainly not the big side patch I'm used to. The bib looked like my Absolute FIE mask I thought. |

| Li energizes crowd Nothing really spectacular in the opening round matches. However, Li did get a nice reception from the home crowd. The crowd roared to life to celebrate Li's touches and once the bout got into double digits there was lots of chanting.
Li was down 8-6, scored two touches to bring it even and the crowd stayed into the bout from then on. Li capped off the win with a nice long attack.
I love the crowd response. Loud cheering at a fencing venue, who would have thought. ;-) |

Home team advantage, most probably.

| I saw it, nothing really special, but still some good touches. I saw him get at least one touch off a really nice fleche disengage.

| I'm going to watch Mejias and Torkildsen for the next bout, that looks like it will be the most interesting.

| I'll bet if you added fencing to any other event people were going to, and put an American up against someone from another country, you would have a lot of cheering. It's the getting people to come in the first place that's the challenge.
What I meant to bring up about Li's mask is I was wondering if he was wearing a Chinese made mask, either Absolute, Wuxi, or BG, and if the manufacturer's logo had to be removed for the Publicity Code. |

One thing I've noticed NBC having a little trouble with is their replays are a bit too long; they frequently are halfway done before "Fence" is called again, and in the WS it often cut back just in time to see them return to the on guard lines again. Less of a problem for the ME, but they still are cutting off some of the starts. |

| Merde Period 1 Jennet vs Katchurin; Jennet utters Aaah Merde! after a miss and a remise aginst him.
What are the statutory ( <<strike that: lets say enforced ) limits on utterances and mild profanity during a match?

Mejias has priority. They use the box to auto-determine. I wonder if the trend I've noticed in the US (person with priority is noticeably more likely to lose) will stay true.
It does. |

| How do you have the option to view different bouts?

I would have liked to have seen the Mejias 10th touch; it was probably Torkilden's hand, but it looked like was just the bell to me.

One for each piste/color section.
There is no indication of which is which so you just have to fish.
I am watching blue.

There's 4 links to fencing video, each one goes to a different piste. You can set up all 4 to play at once and enlarge the one you want to see.
Or, watch badminton while keeping an eye on the pistes, like I'm doing.
