    Choosing the Right Lame Size

    I have a size 48 for an All-Star Jacket
    What [All-Star] lame size should I get? 48? 50?

Depends a bit on a few things. First of all the cut of the jackets has changed a bit over the years, so if your jacket is more than 3-5 years old the pattern of the cut may have changed.

The most important thing however is the way you like your lame to fit. Most fencers I know prefer a tight fit and I usually order them a size smaller than the jacket size for most of my fencers, especially thin or young ones. If you like an average fit go with the same size, one size up for a loose fit.

Finally I would not suggest and Uhlmann/Allstar lame. Their quality has gone down a fair bit in recent years and many people I know who were die hard Uhlmann/Allstar fans have started going with other brands to get the quality they want. I would suggest either LP, Negrini or FWF for lames. Same or better quality for similar money. The Negrini is probably the closest to the standard Allstar fit from what I have seen, but YMMV on that count depending on size.
