Knickers Hey
Found these pants on the Nike website and they don't look like Nike intends them to be used for fencing, and the description seems to indicate that they are for everyday wear. I'm not sure this is armory related, but I just thought these were strange. Short Knickers
Long Knickers -

Array Knickers (or britches, as they are also sometimes known) are used in sports other than fencing.
Looking at the pictures it's questionable whether or not these would provide the required 10 cm overlap between the top of the knickers and the bottom of the jacket (m.25.4). -

These look like football pants, actually. -

Array Agreed....also, what would be the Newton rating on them if they are just everyday cotton shorts or long pants? - It's not that I chose to fence, it's that I feel I have to fence. -

Better to buy some actual knickers that ARE designed for the sport. -

Yeah it offers some protection, but it isn't enough, or in the right places, nor is it recommended.
Just because two items sort of look the same, and serve similar functions doesn't mean they are the same or are interchangeable.

Yeah. By "everyday wear" i meant, well, like fashionable everyday clothing, not fencing gear.
On one of the links Nike even suggests wearing these to school, which I thought was funny. Similar Threads -
