French Preps for the Olys

Interesting link sent to me.

Video news report of the French fencing team. Two items of note: none of the women appear ready to sub in for the French basketball team anytime soon, and it appears they brought their own chef for team meals.

The French are staying about a 50 minute plane trip outside of Beijing to train.

I just read a small blurb in my local paper that many athletes are staying in Japan and other neighboring countries. If there is significant time between their events they will be flying in and out to avoid the smog.

And many marathoners are simply not going. I've heard the same about equestrian teams.
