What's your experience, if any at all, with Dean guitars, and if you had $4000-$1000 and you were going to buy a guitar, would it be Dean or someone else?

If I had a ridiculous amount to spend on a guitar, I would probably buy a Gibson Les Paul. Although to it's credit, Dean has some quality guitars.

Currently, I have an Ovation.

I'd stay away from any expensive guitars. Get some foreign made POS and put in better pick ups if you need to.

Buy a nice amp.

Agreed. I bought a POS squire and put in new pickups, set the action etc. Sounds great.
