China Spying on Hotel Guests at Olympics

So besides repressing Tibet, repressing it's own people, restricting internet access to journalists, having horrible air quality, ... now China is spying on those attending the olympics at their hotels.

I just have to wonder, why exactly did the IOC chose China to host the olympics again? Complete imcompetence? Stupidity? Total disreguard for the reputation of the olympics? A whole lot of cash? What was it really?

Well, at least they are not employing old women to enter your rooms while you are away and rifle through your belongings...which used to be common in Eastern Europe.
