Anyone tried (or bought) the 2008 Olympics Adidas Fencing Shoes?

I saw it on the adidas website. Looks more like a squash shoe than a fencing show. Hope it's better than the 2004 monstrosity.

At $200 a pair, it better fit like a pair of Manolo Blahniks.

They actually look pretty nice. The heel reminds me of the stabil 5s. But for 200 bux a pair there is probably a zero percent chance they are worth it.

I liked the 2004 shoes, except for the fact they fell apart after 6 months, 3 times.

Well i did buy the 2nd and 3rd pair at the same time.... Uhlmann gave us a 50% discount at Junior Worlds, so I made good use of it.

I'm sure they'll be re-released in 2035 -- as a cool 'street shoe' for the cool kids of the future...

(Btw, the new Adidas looks like a pair of regular court shoes. With an added price tag.)

I think appearances are deceiving. They're probably a pair of regular court shoes.

    With two added price tags.

For those looking at alternative shoes, I've received several emails from fencers who are using badminton and squash shoes. I just put up a blog post with pictures of the D'Artagnan III and the Lightster. You be the judge.

When are the Nike shoes available? How are they compared to the new Adidas?

They are not asymmetrical, however, the inside of both shoes features a surface very similar to that which was found on the inside of the asymmetrics, except with a new bubble pattern on it: picture.
Good lord, that shoe is ugly. It looks like it has the pox.
