I'm looking for a place to get my son started with fencing, hopefully near our house on 29th and Lex. He is 10 years old.

I would suggest coming/calling in advance to talk to the coaches about your son. The club's phone number is 212-807-6947. They do an excellent job taking care of beginning, young fencers.


Other good clubs in the neighborhood are

I agree with the Fencers Club recommendation. You should know that the schedule currently posted does not reflect the summer slowdown so please call ahead. Also the club will be moving soon (Sept last I heard) to 28th street between 7th and 8th Avenues.

Sheridan Fencing Academy will be opening its new location on 2nd Ave between 104th and 105th. We have a program designed specifically to develop children into competitive fencers, fostering their love of the sport and engaging their minds as well as bodies. Most importantly, we make emphasize FUN. Many of our students have in only a couple years become nationally ranked up through the Junior level.
