Thank you so much. I was struggling to figure out when I would be able to watch the "live" coverage, as NBC only lists a 6-hour window for coverage.
Check out my previous mention of web TV by Swedish state TV. Their short-time channel for niche sports (fencing, gymnastics, archery, etc) is called Peking+

Have a nice time!

Thanks, Peter- I must have missed it. Hopefully it isn't blocked in the U.S. Can you link to the post again?
Will commentary be in Swedish? How can we pick up your live translation?
According to the column by a sports pundit in the largest national newspaper, there will be no commentary at all, is Swedish or otherwise. I can not find any mention about the broadcasts on the website of the Swedish fencing federation.
IF they change their mind (highly unlikely) and there is Swedish commentary, I might be able to provide some after-the-fact translation. I will be staying at my parents summer cottage during the first day of fencing coverage, and fly back the 2nd day. I will in all likelihood see very little, if any at all, fencing during those two days. Even after that, I do not have a recorder, nor am a I real-time translator.
Since the fencing coverage will be via webcast, I can not record it. If Edew can record it somehow, then I could write a translation and post it here, once I get his putative DVD´s of the coverage.
Here is the relevant website with the broadcast times. Look for "Fäktning". All times are CET, 1 hour east of Greenwich Mean Time.
11 aug
12.55-15.30 Fäktning, florett semi och final damer.
12 aug
07.00-07-45 Fäktning, sabel herrar.
12.50-14.50 Fäktning, sabel herrar, semifinal, bronsmatch och final.
13 aug
06.50-08.45 Fäktning, florett och värja.
14 aug
11.55-14.20 Fäktning, sabel lag damer final.
Looks like there's no WS individ and no MS Team events scheduled--or did I read this wrong? Now just have to figure out the Eastern DST for the events!

Upon rechecking, that is indeed the case. OTOH, This channel shows 2 hours, 25 minutes of the final bouts of the WST event. That is in all likelyhood more than two hours more than what NBC will show.
In Sweden, sabre is a distant 3rd among the weapons. That might have influenced the decisions by the TV executives.
We will be posting images each day on FencingPhotos.com ... typically a few best shots of the action, medals, etc. as well as feeding images to various media sources, including Fencing.net.
The comprehensive set of images will be going up during and after the games, including the major action from semi-finals and finals as well as preliminary action.
As some of you may know, for this Olympic Games Amy Timacheff (my wife, who is also a photographer) will be working specifically with the U.S. team and USOC to get shots that I typically don't have bandwidth to get as I work with the entire FIE "family" of athletes. Amy is the one who photographed the official portraits of the athletes in Portland, and she's been working closely with the USFA and Fencing.net to plan for coverage.
Amy is very excited to be working with them at the Games, and I'm jazzed that she'll be with me and that we'll be working together. I will also be providing action and other shots of U.S. athletes, especially when they make it into higher rounds. I'll also be at the Opening Ceremonies, and we're still trying to get Amy a ticket.
Please feel free to let us know if there are any athletes or anything else you think you'd like to see us cover (specifically in regards to fencing) while we're there.
Following the games, we'll have a special feature on the Web site with top images.
Hi guys. I'm an Italian sports fan, and also a close friend of Andrea Baldini (#1 of Foil Ranking), so I was looking for a way to follow his performance at the olympics. Maybe my english is so bad but I didn't understand how this swedish channel is played. I mean... is it a webTV? Do I need a sotfware for it?

Your English seems pretty good. I don't think anyone has figured out the Swedish channel yet.
NBC should be showing a lot of the fencing on NBCOlympics.com. The schedule is detailed here: Olympic fencing coverage
Athens,2004 RAI had all or most of the fencing broacast on the internet. Other than Swedish TV are there any websites that will have the fencing events from Beijing for free like RAI did in 2004?
I was under the impression that the NBC site was US viewers only.

I can now attest that the video clips and streams on the www.NBColympics.com site are indeed restricted when one is outside the USA. For those of us with Internet Display in International Olympic Timezones (IDIOT) disabilities, how does one go about setting up a "simple proxy" to bypass the restrictions?
