End of Season Points List Updated Soon ? Can someone tell me when points list will be updated now that the Summer Nationals is over ? -
New Point Standings Sometime between now and the next NAC! -
ask, ask, ask I would suggest that everyone who is interested email and call the office at least once (preferably once a day), to communicate to the office that we are WANT TO KNOW. I have done my bit. I tried waiting patiently for over a week, but that really does not work. I then tried to find out from the USFA website who was responsible, and I found out that it is Christine Simmons. But I learned here that Christine Simmons is not working there any more. I wish information of all sorts could be updated better.
It seems to be Ashley Razo, who is out of the office for several days, thus insulated from all the messages coming in. -

It seems to be Ashley Razo, who is out of the office for several days, thus insulated from all the messages coming in. Are you saying that Christine Simmons isn't working for the USFA anymore, is that true? -
I find that highly unlikely.
Incidentally, I suspect USFA staff vacations are probably concentrated in July after Summer Nationals but before the membership year starts and things go crazy for the next 11 months. -

Array Plus, it soaks up a lot of worker hours installing and de-bugging the "hide on-line information from heretic" filters. "Sometimes we, as coaches, get into that dictator mode where you just tell and you don't listen and you don't try to understand them." Tom Izzo, Mich. St.

It seems to be Ashley Razo, who is out of the office for several days, thus insulated from all the messages coming in. Christine still works there. You're thinking of Corinne Greenman... she recently left the National Office. She was the one responsible for updating points lists, so the others are learning how to do it. And, despite what you may think, it's not a simple process.
Also, please cut the office staff some slack. A week ago, the largest event of the season ended. That's after months of planning, followed by 10+ days spent in San Jose away from home and family. Perhaps it's not unreasonable to let them take some time off to recover?
Updating points lists will happen, just be patient. It's not like any major life decisions have to be made today based on the updated standings.

Dan You are right, I was thinking of Corinne Greenman. Sorry for the mistake. However, as to the other point, I would like to suggest that the office staff not think that the event is ended until the points are posted. For Vets who are planning on their World Championships, yes, decisions need to be made soon. For others, maybe not so soon, but I so think that the posting of points is an integral part of the competition process. -
All Veterans who are attending the World Championships should already have been contacted personally, I believe. -

Array Plus, you CAN figure your points for yourself. There's a chart in the Athlete's Handbook ( I think; I know it's somewhere ) which gives the number of points awarded for each place. And the old list will show how many points you already have from your last two events... Use the Shift key, people! And the Vet's all know if they made it or not. In addition to it being announced right there at the medal ceremony, they all have sufficient math skills to know how to do the calcs (and someone was available to help Inquartata out).

Junior Fencers What about the junior fencers that are preparing to go to Junior Grade A world cup starting in october? I think that they, along with their parents, would like to know where they stand in the points so that they can plan accordingly. -

Array The top 8 finishers (4 qualifiers and 4 alternates) were identified at the conclusion of each V50 or V60 event, as part of the awards ceremony in San Jose.

Next you'll start wanting to know which international events are designated. :)
Note that at least for the past couple of years the first designated cadet event in sabre took place in mid-September (Konin).

Sure it may have been announced at San Jose to those present after each event. And if someone spends some time and does some math they might be able to work it out. However the point is they shouldn't have to.
I agree that events (or elections) should not be consider completed until results are posted, points calculated, and website updated. -

Dan Dan, thanks for saying all of that.
I spent about 10 years maintaining the USFA points standings as a volunteer, and I can attest to the fact that updating the points after Summer Nationals is an extremely time consuming effort.
At a NAC, you typically have about 18-24 events that affect the points standings. From this year's SN, you have 54 such events. In the past there have been as many as 72 points-eligible results. It just takes a lot of time. -

Array Possibly someone needs to write a computer program to do the calculations? Use the Shift key, people! Keyboard manufacturers everywhere are ineffably saddened when you ignore what they made just for you! -

Or if the published points lists and results simply included identifying fencers by a member or other unique id like the FIE does, perhaps a bunch of people might have already written their own programs to calculate or check the points lists over the last 10 years.

Array And the points are up on the USFA site. ( You have to go to the PDFs. )
Albeit there are some mistakes. For instance, Ted Smith is not even on the
V50MS list---and he's on the team... Use the Shift key, people! Keyboard manufacturers everywhere are ineffably saddened when you ignore what they made just for you! -

Array As of a few minutes ago, it was not the rankings that were up under rankings for this year, it was the complete SN results; seedings, pools and pool results, DE's and final standings.
Guess Corinne's replacement is still using a white cane. Whoopee! My avatar is back. Similar Threads -
