Array Local Southern California Veterins tournaments Does anyone know of any Veterins tournaments this next season in Southern California? I tried 2 years in a row to enter the San Diego Senior games, and it never materialized. I don't see traveling to San Fransisco, but I guess I should never say never. -

You will enjoy old friends and good competitions
For the 2008-9 season, we are planning 4 Veteran competitions in the SVCC.

3. Event added to existing tournament in South Texas (San Marcos or Austin).
4. Event added to existing tournament in Houston or College Station.

Array In case it's of interest to people, there were at least a few flyers available in San Jose advertising the Summer National Senior Games August 7-8, 2009 in Palo Alto.
Vet 50-59 and Vet 60+ events in all six weapons.
More information can be found at the NSGA website. Fencing will be a "demonstration" event, which means that one does not have to qualify through state games competition taking place in 2008.
I assume more information will filter out to the community as it becomes available.

Vet 50-59 and Vet 60+ events in all six weapons. that would have been cool. I need to get plugged into some of these sources before they actually happen. Or move back to Texas....... -

It would be great if SoCal and Nevada Vets could help (politely) pester the good folks who run the Palm Desert Open into adding Vet epee and foil events this year. Otherwise ...
"Go North, Old Man"*
There should be at least 8 vet epee and foil events this season in northern California. [The northern half of CA, not necessarily the division] *me, ripping off Horace Greeley, ripping off John Soule -

Earlier this year, Fortune and SoCal put on a vets foil. We thought it would be about 6 people, but it turned out to be a tournament with 18 people - and some ratings were given. I'd expect more of these in the future - as it was a surprise success.
It's really easy to run a single-weapon event off the end of another event - which was what we did. My guess is that format will continue to be used, but I don't know for sure. -

Array <ShamelessPlug>
We added vet epee to the Battle in Seattle back in January and had 36 fencers. We plan on adding vet foil next January as well.
