Algebra proofs are like blacksmith puzzles: trivial once you figure out how it's done, frustrating as hell otherwise.
Also, the proofs that are NOT short and simple fool you because as you're trying to get through them, you keep thinking there's GOT to be a short and simple proof, and you're just not seeing it...
But I was referring to a typical understanding of algebra, i.e. non-math geeks.
And since edew brought it up, I found computability to be lots of fun.
