A Disturbing Development

[Willow]

Willow goes rushing through the castle, to the Queen's ready room. "I must see the Queen," she gasps to the guard, "it's an emergency!" The guard quickly rushes in to announce Lady Willow to the Queen.

Queen Zelda rushes over to Willow and grasps her hands. "Willow, what is wrong? You are as pale as a ghost!" "My Queen, I have distressing news! Moonitic has left Arconia"

Zelda gasps in shock. "Left Arconia? WHY?" Willow reaches into her pocket and pulls out a letter. "My Queen, Moonitic gave me this letter to give to you upon her departure."

Zelda unrolls the letter and begins to read:

"Queen Zelda,
I write this letter to let you know that I must leave Arconia. The stress of being around Angel has proven too much for me. I have to get away. Please forgive me for running off and leaving everyone, but I truly feel that I have no choice. I simply can't be around him day after day. Again, please forgive me.

Lady Moonitic"

Zelda turns to Willow and asks, "Are you sure this is all she left and that this is what she means?" Willow looks down at the floor and whispers, "Yes, I am sure, my Queen." "We must find Moonitic," Zelda says.

Willow looks up at Zelda and tells her, "My Queen, yes, and I feel we need help. In addition to sending away for the Duchess of Sunnydale, I have just sent a messanger to bring my friend, who is a Monk, to join us from Schoolcraftia. He can help us, for he knows Moonitic almost as well as I do."

"Good," says Zelda, "We need all the help we can get. We MUST get Moonitic back before she is hurt or killed."

The situation has been compounded, Willow.
One of Arconias squires has killed a Muu
Herald. I believe he was sent here to Arconia as a messenger. The message must have been verbal for there was nothing in writing upon his person directed to the crown. His death was an honest mistake but one im
sure will not please the King of Muu. Arconias Knights and armies stand ready to assist. I seek first to speak with the Queen before any action is taken.

Willow, I have been in counsel now for two hours with my own herald. He tells me that its very rare to send a messenger without a written decree(message). It is now our belief that the message was stolen. Yes, stolen by someone here in Arconia. I have placed the young squire under house arrest.
His story seems sound. What does concern me is he left the body, was confused and afraid, and didnt report the incident for nearly an hour. Someone in that period of time could have stolen the message if it was
on the heralds person. Please take serious note of this. Ill expect all Arconians do try and do there part in finding this message. The fate of Moon and Arconia could be in the balance.

Angel, I can't presume to speak for the king, but yes, I feel that you must organize a search party. Something is telling me that Moonitic is in grave danger and that we must do everything possible to ensure her safety.

not to be dense or anything, but you know, moon may have wanted to go off for a little R&R, or maybe she was kidnapped. So, there're are a few people that come to mind on the board, I would say, (no offense of course), but swordsman springs to mind.

My forces will be ready to back you. If they"re to hot on your heels we will flank them from both sides. I've heard from my spies that two former Arconians are providing the muu's.(is that what they're called)? with information about our forces.
So beware, you may not have the element of
suprize(sp) i think. Mango! go with Angel, if you need to split your forces then do so. Dont come back without moon.

i don't want to seem ungreatful but i think that i will have better luck if i go alone your highness.. i have issued ordors to the strike force to detain anyone that tries to follow...

no offense taken, Moon defected, I found her on her way to Muuvania.

[Willow]

Willow looked at Mango with daggers in her eyes. "Mango, you are a LIAR!" she said, "There is no way Moon would EVER defect, especially to Muu." Willow turned to King Arcon and looked him straight in the eyes.

"Your Majesty, for as long as you have known Moon and myself, have you ever known either of us to be traitors?" she asked him. "Willow, never. We may not have known the entire truth about the two of you, but nothing you have done has brought shame and disgrace to Arconia, " King Arcon replied.

Mango was not happy. Things were not going her way. She did not like this. "Prove that Moon hasn't defected," she sneered. "I can do that easily," said Willow, "The Queen has a letter from Moon that I gave to her myself." "Letters can be forged," said Mango. "Not this letter," Willow replied. "Also, why would Moon defect when she asked for sanctuary from Arconia, and it was granted to her?"

Queen Zelda steps forward and glares at Mango. "Willow and I have been talking in private. I know exactly why Moon left." Mango smirked at the Queen, and said, "Oh, do tell, my Queen." Zelda tells her, "Mango, you appear to be jealous of Moon. You seem to be trying to point the finger at her for everything. Now that Angel is going to look for her, you wish to stop him. Do you fancy Angel for yourself?"

Willow adds, "Only the guilty would speak such of the innocent. Mango, perhaps you are guilty of much more than bad, drunken poetry." Mango, her eyes blazing, rushes towards Willow and tries to slap her. Willow grabs Mango's hand and squeezes it in such a way that Mango falls to the floor in pain. Willow then leans forward, sniffing the air. "Fresca....gas.....fruit smell....I know this...," she said. Willow's eyes grow big with sudden recollection. "MANGO...YOU were one of my kidnappers!" she screams, "I would know that smell ANYWHERE!"

King Arcon and Queen Zelda look at Willow. The King asks, "Willow, are you SURE?" She replies, "Yes, Your Majesty, I have never been more sure of anything in my life. Mango is one of the people who kept me imprisoned in that dirty hovel." "GUARDS!" yells Arcon. The guards come running in. "Arrest Mango...she is a kidnapper and a traitor to Arconia."

Mango is put in chains and escorted down to the dungeoun.

once again, the green eyes of jealousy reared it's ugly head, every time I turn around i'm put in chains. Okay, i'm in chains! (I can't belive it) - however, unbeknownst to all, mango was in addition to being a skilled fencer, a sword-swallower. She had just prior to her capture, swallowed a small italian stilletto, which she upchucked with the stale bread that she was given by guard. Using the stilletto between her teeth, she unlocked the big heavy iron lock that was on her wrist and freed herself. At the same moment, Arcon, peered through the iron bars of the dungeon, leering madly at the arrested Mango, he yelled in a demented fashion "you're under arrest". Mango agreed with the whole thing, "sure, sure arcon, no problem, under arrest, that's right, i'll await the verdit" He replied "you better believe it, by tomorrow I'll escort you personally to the execution stand". Well that's just great mango thought. What a nut, you put all your confidence in someone, and look what he does. She looked around the room for a minute and when she was sure he was gone, she used the little knife she had and worked open the door. She crept out silently and continued to walk without making a sound. "Never again will I make the mistake of backing Arcon or his kingdom". She kept going on foot until dawn, until she got to a pay phone where she dialed 911 and got assistance. When the cops got there, she got them to take a report and they drove her home. Taking a hot shower, she made a few phone calls and before anyone knew what the heck was going on Arcon was sitting in a detention center, being grilled by a bunch of seasoned interrogists. Mango decided she had had enough of this sillyness and got on a plane to France where she unpacked her fencing gear and started to fence with a bunch of people. Some of them asked about Arcon and the Kingdom, and she just shrugged in french: "well, he's in jail, and his co-conspirators are well on their way to keeping him company" Garcon of France looked at Mango and said: "don't give him another thought, tonight I will show you the left bank, the right bank and we weeeeel share a little sparkly with some friends". The salle du france agreed, "Oui, it's time to lighten up Mango, let's go to the bistro du monde and talk turkey"

Damn, where am I? The last thing Arcon remembered he had just given the order for the task force to look for Moon. Wait! there
was something else......he had gone into the study and to his suprize Willow was there. What had she blown in his face and why? Willow had always been faithful to the crown did she know something he didnt? Was it for the good of Arconia that this spell had been placed on him? Was it his seemingly blind faith in Mango that caused this turn of events? Was she trying to protect the crown?
Arcon was confused still to groggy to think staight. He knew Moon was still gone and Arconia was still in danger. The quicker he came to his senses and got out of the interrogation room the better. But for now he would rest.

Willow leans down and whispers into King Arcon's ear, "My King, I fear that you are under a spell from the evil Mango. She has kept your mind befuddled and made you believe in her, when all along, she wants your head on a spike. I have given you a drug that will clear your head and let you see what a traitor Mango is and you will now see the truth."

Willow leads Arcon from the interrogation room, delivering him back to the castle and the Queen. She tells the Queen, "Let the King sleep. He needs rest to recover from the drugs that he was given by the traitor." Queen Zelda looks at Willow with gratitude in her eyes. "Thank you, Willow, for finding him and bringing him back to me." "Don't thank me, my Queen, thank the animals which came to me and told me what was happening," Willow replied, "the traitor, Mango, has escaped, so we must take precautions that she cause no more damage to Arconia or its people."

Queen Zelda agrees and orders more troops to guard the castle. She, herself, refuses to leave the King's side, preferring to stay with him until he wakes up in his right mind.

Another day passes. Finally, the King begins to stir. "Where am I?" he mutters. "You are safe, my love," replies Zelda. Suddenly, Arcon sits up in bed and shouts, "I remember, now! Where is that traitor, Mango?" "She has fled the castle, Arcon," Zelda answers him. "Has Moon been found yet?" he asks? "No, not yet. But Angel has left to look for her. Willow has sent for help from Schoolcraftia. We will find Moon," Zelda assures Arcon.

Relieve, Arcon drifts back to sleep.

As I sat watching my King sleep, I felt uneasy, not uneasy in uncomfortable, but uneasy as in "someone has not told me everything....and if I dont know I will be in trouble."
So I called Willow to my chambers again....
"Willow.....are you sure you told me EVERYTHING about Lady Moon's departure? I feel like you are holding something back."

[Willow]

Willow takes a deep breath and replies to Queen Zelda, "My Queen, I have been honest with you, but, yes, I haven't told you everything. Moon is going to try to prevent the war between Arconia and Muu. She isn't simply leaving just to get away from Angel, as her letter to you stated. I fear that Moon is either going to marry the King of Muu's son or she is going to die to appease his anger. I do know that Mango's jealousy of Moon has led to many of the problems in Arconia right now."

Zelda looks at Willow and says, "Thank you for telling me this. The question now is what do we do with this information?"

"Oh my, my my, such a long way"; mumbles the stout puggy monk as he reaches the end of his voyage. His stature not muc more than 4'9 inches is dwarfed by his girth, which matches if not exceeds his hight. A single strand of rope is tied around his waist hold his lose fitting robe around his protly body. Sweat is pouring from his pours, the stench of his sweat makes standing to close to him an unpleasent experience. Resting against the great door, he anounces his arrival;
" Open the Door, Brother Emmanuel has arrived. the trip nearly killed me, and I have wasted away to nearly nothing of my old self. Open the Door I say."

[Willow]

Willow rushes out to greet Brother Emmanuel. "Thank God you are here," she says, "Your counsel is very much needed. Arconia is in a state of unrest, Lady Moon has vanished, and we are under threat of was from the country of Muu."

"Oh child hush" gasping for air as he stand. "First things first, I need to find a place to cleam myself, the dust of the road hangs heavy upon me and I fear my stench offends even the flies which live on the dung heap. Second, I have wasted away to near nothing", this being the furthest from the truth, "I hunger for food. After these needs are met, then I can tend to the state of the nation. Sadly my body demands attention and my mind is to weak of will not to answer its demands." Walks past you, through the great door, the stentch of his body is overwhelming.
