Ok, I was reading a GW post b4 I deleted it and noticed this....

Lastly, any recent attacks here are most certainly a direct result of Fantasyland interference on the FS board. Trust me, you do nothing but stir up trouble for yourselves by doing that.

Anyone care to explain???????? If we have antagonized them in their territory we are fair game here. So PLEASE tell me it isnt true. (Now I'm sounding like a teacher so I will stop!

Zelda, I do agree with the notion that we should not egg on the FS children at their website. Innocent people are getting involved, & very nasty statements are being made when it is not mature or necessary. Let them have their area to blow off steam, & we can stay here. No point "feeding the dragon" (although that's an insult to perfectly good dragons).

Who is a better person, gang? The one who ignores a fool or the one who entertains a fool (therefore, becoming a fool yourself)? Please consider it.

As the founder of Arconia I swear on the kings honor that the first attacks on fencing.net came from the FS. site first.
I was informed many months ago that my name was all over the site. When i viewed it. This was true.
Many were upset and highly opinionated about our fantasy land writing. All of the original founders and knights were named.
I will spare you the comments about ARCON.
Moon herself was singled out. Her ability as a writer was slandered.
Im sure that Arconians who visited the site were displeased and voiced their opinions in the defense of Fantasy Land, its writing and its members. And like i said im also sure as to who threw the first stone. They've been coming to our site since the beginning. Its overdue for the hostility to end.

While im on a roll, moderation is good...but can we please be careful not to slide into censorship and possibly into over regulation.
The first thing to be lost is Creativity.

Rules are good , order is important and needed but freedom is essential for survival.

I hope that everyone can work together to perserve what we have started. I may have struck the match but the fire is fueled by us all. I'd like to see it burn on.

Sam - of course he's been there. He only supports Fantasy because someone on FS wrote something about skinning his cats and playing baseball with kittens. He pretended it didn't get offended, but he's had his back up ever since then. (Sam it wasn't me)

I know that there have been a few others but those are the ones that I remember this moment.

Long ago I predicted this would happen. You have made a classic example of what happens when a weak person is given the power of censorship.

Although I have not checked for myself I am under the impression that everything that I wrote here has been deleted. That is just straight out censorship.

The majority of the time my posts were followed up by responses that were much more offensive and equally personal as anything that I had writen in the first place.

The fact that you would delete posts based not on content but merely on who wrote them is blatently totalitarian and one of the worst examples of moderation as has ever been my misfortune to encounter.

Do you think that it would be possible to provide all fencers with a list of books that you are going to be burning, so that we can remember to bring them for the bonfire at competitions throughout next season?

You gave them rope and they hung themselves. They are not real fencers and never will be.

There are plenty of other places on the internet for these people to conduct their business. You have such a need to keep traffic up on your website that you would rather keep them here than provide a helpful interesting site about the sport of fencing - F-E-N-C-I-N-G - Does anyone remember that is what this site is supposed to be about?

This is a website that had potential, but has been over run by "Stoats and Weasles" (a literary ref to Wind in the Willows for you book burners out there)

GW -- doesn't matter who it was. I went back and saw the unsigned response (the one about seeing what a dog did to a kitten). For the record, it wasn't me. That's one experience of cat rescue that I - thankfully - have yet to encounter, although I have packed away far too many tiny bodies to the vet for cremation in the last 6 years.

In fact, I WAS greatly offended at the comments following that last post of mine. I choose not to respond because I really didn't want my emotions getting away with me. I'd lost one of my personal cats (most likely to FIP...a particularly nasty virus that sits dormant int he tissues until it kicks active. After that, they're gone), as well as three others in the previous week (one to a nasal infection that got up into her brain, and two babies who got poisoned when their mother's milk went toxic...tends to happen in large litters, and these were two out of nine).

As far as supporting the fantasy board, I do so because I have been an active fantasy writer in the past and I happen to like MOST of the people who post here, with a couple of exceptions...primarily 355 and yourself.

To all concerned. I have warned about over censorship and too much moderation as its called. Again i say we did not start the trouble. I went to the fs site many months ago for the first time. ONLY because i was told my name was all over he board. I would challenge anyone else not to do the same given the circumstances....

I am aware that one or two of us have been posting on fencingsucks for a while, but this has NOTHING to do with these current attacks on us. As Arcon stated before, His name was on there long before all of this blew up.

but threads for creating writing are NOT to be flamed in. WHY....daaaaaa for the dummies. Its because it will disrupt the flow of the creativity in the thread.
Flame post that are done for this reason should be deleted no matter what(sorry gw) the content.
This IS a writing segment of this website. It
IS for CREATIVE writing. A teacher doesnt allow someone to yell during class.

So my suggestion is to allow a protest thread but keep the writing threads clear.
If this is not done then none of this will work......and those that dont want it to WILL be successful....
