| Election Results? Have the votes been counted?
Without a coach or a person of authority to tell me what to do, I'm unsure whether to be patient and rest assured that those in charge have the situation well under control, or be concerned that people of ill intent might have stolen the ballot box, and are--even as we speak--stuffing flamagels down the ballot slot in an effort to interrupt the process.
But golly, I don't know why I'm getting all in a lather about this. Someone will tell me what I need to know, all in good time.
I hear the Hallmark Channel is having a "Sarah: Plain & Tall" marathon this 4th of July. That's all the excitement I need.

I would like to say to the winners best wishes and good luck.
Though given the recent turns of events it kind of feels like making that old Chinese curse, "May you live in interestng times".

| There were about 9000 members able to vote and less than 10% of us voted in this election.

I mean, many of the people able to vote have no idea who the candidates are and don't know anything about the problems plaging the national scale. Most USFA memembers are only so so that they can fence in a local tournament a couple times a month. |

jjefferies said 800 to 600 for presidential election... That means 1400 total votes, which is more than 10%.

| My understanding is that they will not, and the candidates agreed that no figures would be released. That said, someone posted numbers upthread, so I don't know where he got them. |

| Three words: information hoard. umm...Ing.
There is zero justification for withholding the vote counts in an election of this type. If the powers that be decide you don't need to get all in a lather about these niggling little numbers, in such a public and important matter, then ask yourself:
When really unpleasant kinds of numbers/matters need to be discussed, how proactive are they going to be about releasing information?
It's not a good start.

And before anyone picks up pitchforks and torches, we probably need to confirm that bylaw. |

| Perhaps there was a wish not to "embarrass" the losing candidates any more than losing already did. To those involved it might have smacked of nose-rubbing.
But if so it was a short-sighted perspective. One of the main complaints about the USFA has always been the institutional lack of transparency, and this just looked like no one had learned any lessons...

They'll know what to expect before they get started. |
