| You all should be commended for your responses. I am quite pleased that no one took the bait from the original poster who was obviously looking for more emotional replies. Bravo. |

-m | I believe he strayed from WASP. I took it to mean white anglo-saxon protestant male. |

-m | It took it to mean the same thing, and it wasn't a typo. It was a new acronym meant to add "male" to the mix. So maybe he would have been more clear with WASPM or WASP males.

-ph | OK,OK, I fixed it on the original; although the discussion above is much more clever.

| Interestingly (to me anyway), AF frequently has had ads looking for Americans with Mexican ancestry for the Mexican JO's. Haven't seen any objections here to those ads.

-B | I didn't see it, or I would have commented. I am certainly not trying to pick on Jewish fencers, of whom there are more than a few who can whip me.
Just wait until they are all healthy, and then it will be worse. I understand that one of the best vets right now is suffering mightly from a bad back.
I wish him the best, of course, but not until after SN. Get better my friend, soon. I wish to see you fence at your best.
There can only be one!

We should protest the Maccabiah games on the basis that it is a hate-fostering organization.
Are you serious?
Is the OP serious? How can you possibly take offense to this?
The point of the Maccabiah games (I imagine, I have no real direct knowledge of them) is not to find the best fencer in the world, or the best whatever sportsman or sportswoman in the world. It's a specific people and culture coming together to celebrate through sports.
In this world of overactive and ignorant hyper-political correctness we're finding it easier and easier to be offended by things which should not do so. I think this climate is more dangerous than a sport festival for a certain minority. Are you offended by the NAACP? Ok, maybe I am sometimes but they exist to tug at the opposite end of the extreme which is already out there.
There is no eloquent way to continue saying what I'm trying to say, so I guess I will end by saying don't be ignorant. It's the year 2008 sure, but that does not mean that inequality does not still exist. Hyper-PC freaks who like to pretend that everyone is skipping through a field of daisies holding hands are the only ones pretending that minority advancement or celebration organizations (such as the Maccabiah games, the NAACP, and any other one of the unlimited examples) are offensive. In actuality, until the reality of the whole world matches the ignorant perception of these hyper-pc crazy people, such organizations are necessary.
Apologies for the righteous attitude, it's early and ignorance (there's that word again) tugs at me the wrong way, especially when it's masqueraded as an assault on the same.

At one time or another all combinations have been present.
