| News Feeds Hey there,
I've put in some code to pull in rss feeds from various sites for Olympic fencing coverage that we can use to track the progress of the Olympics and discussion of the articles.
The first that I've done is to take the feeds that NBC is providing for articles, photos and videos. You'll see the first NBC Video thread and there are three feeds that will come in over time.
Please send me a PM (Private Message) for any of the following: - If you notice duplicate threads being posted.
- If you know of other good feeds to use for fencing news.
- If you have any other suggestions for improved readability of the feeds.
Thanks,
Craig |

| One other thing: I need someone who can go through some of the daily headline searches that I receive to parse out the real sport fencing content vs. the "let's build a wall between Mexico and the US" content I get on the same keyword searches.
If you're interested in helping out on this, please PM or send an email to craig AT fencing.net |

| Great idea, Craig...
I was going to mention this a little closer to the events, but this is a good a time/place as any, so...
The official IOC report after Sydney included information tracking each sport's site hits to the official coverage site (for the US this is the NBC site) for each country. IIRC, they started tracking 2 weeks before the games and continued throughout the competition.
While it's possible to get a tremendous amount of information from f.net... it is important to regularly visit the NBC site, as it is probably the one of the most valuable opportunity the fencing community has to demonstrate it's interest and passion to the non-fencing world.
Fencers don't comprise the largest sport community, but organizations tend to look very favorably on the possiblity of capturing the attention of small, highly active groups.
Click early an often.

Click early an often. | Fencing.Net is also a content partner with NBC and WCSN (soon to be UniversalSports) so page views for Fencing.Net are also reported back up the chain so that they can see how active and engaged the community is.

| Craig,
That's Fan-tas-tic...
Congrats.
You heard the man, people. A click on 'that site' is a click for fencing.
Time to fire up the index fingers.

Thanks,
Craig | Thanks Craig - for those of us who don't know what this means - what does this mean?
I think it means you will be posting fencing articles from the olympics on this forum (?) through some automated system, is that right? Or are they posted somewhere else, like on the main page? How will they show up? |
