| T-Shirt Design Following on the great patches in the thread on patches, it would be great to see some more t-shirt designs for NAC's. IMHO, the recent generation of shirts (since the vendor changed) leave something very much to be desired.
I would love to see a tournament where people wanted to buy the shirt because it was cool. The last one of those I remember was the last Long Beach Invitational.
So, creative ones out there - take a shot! Let's get the cool fencing shirt back! After all, they're great advertising (particularly amongst the youth)!

| Yes, surely there'd be legal issues with alternate shirts. Although maybe they could be avoided by not referring to the specific event, just have the name of the host city and "fencing" in the design. |

Other equipment vendors are limited to selling their own branded items. (In other words: polo shirt or t shirt with comany logo and "X fencing gear" = OK. Any other polo or t-shirt with anything fencing on it = not allowed)

| Nothing like a monopoly for innovation I presume a flat fee is paid by Team IP for the right to sell the shirts? Surely a percentage of all shirt sales regardless of vendor would be a better idea, competition would force companies to actually come up with decent designs.
There's nothing to stop an online vendor making such shirts though right? |

| I'm not a lawyer, but an amateur student of trademark and copyright law (every artist should be). You should be able to make and sell your own fencing shirts, no problem. Just not at national events. And you wouldn't be able to put the name or logo of the USFA or any national event on it.
I'm sad (but not surprised) for the folks who have really put a lot of heart into their fencing apparel design, like B4OB. Did anyone notice the ad in American Fencing for their "We Can't Come to Summer Nationals Sale?" I hope this doesn't mean they're selling off their stock and calling it quits. |

| Stamp Design <warning, thread jack in progress, please do not adjust your set>
If you are in Summer Nationals, you may notice the equipment marking stamp. I think it's better than most, but I don't think it's all that great.
I'm looking for artwork to be used on future stamps. Best if they relate to the host city as well as fencing, but any decent fencing design can be considered. Has to be something that works on a stamp; photos or shading don't work. The stamps are at most 2 1/4 x 2.
PM me if you have something. If selected, your art can appear on the heads and backs of thousands of your fellow fencers. What fame, what fortune! |

| Wait
I CAN offer something of value.
"Go to the head of the line" card. Good for, let's say two NACs. |
