| I would have to agree with latenight. Yes there will always be racism, but that doesn't mean that it comes from the south.

| Actually the racism comment, or rather the prejudice as I should have said, was a reflection on my own attitude. I was going to delete it, but I liked the notion that i was reflecting poorly on myself (and my prejudice against the south, which will remain as long as the south isn't identical to the New York City area). I didn't think that anybody would pick that up though, but I was hoping, ahh well. And, actually some of my favorite people are from the south. In truth I'm just so used to where I live (near New York City) that almost everywhere else seems backwater. Also I fear conservatives, and if you look at the voting maps in the latest presidential election, well, most of the south (and a lot of the rest of the country, but I probably don't like them either...)
*apologies for the people who were offended*
Oh, and the Cuba thing, I figure that they're used to Castro controlling them, so it would be easier than maintaining absolute control over some place like New York, the moon would be cool though (although they don't have a fencing program - Cuba has some decent men's epeeists).

| I live in Australia...you still haven't explained this curfew thing to me http://www.fencing.net/forum/smile.gif Who is making you do what?
Racism...We did a thing in english about racism, and it did mainly focus on the south of america. it was a 'to kill a mockingbird' thing, so that may be why...
we have some racism here, against the aborigines, but I'm not exactly how strong it is. We are, I believe, a very multicultural country, with many different races and religions here. Wow, how is that for patriotic - almost as much as when the Olympics were here.
That's my ramble for the moment.

| I CAN'T BELEIVE YOU GUYS DON'T HAVE CURFEW!! I can't stand it. It definatly doesn't need to be here.
Curfew is for teenagers. (People under 18. Is it 18 when it stops?) We (teenagers) have to be in the house or yard by 10:00 pm. Thats for 14 and under. The rest of us have to be in by 11:00pm. It is really un called for. That is one of the reasons that we don't have. What did you call it *fun*? Here in the good old usa. If you haven't figured it out yet it *really* sux.

| Actualy its really a federal thing here but the cops dont inforce it much so it falls into the hands of parents. I once had this real old mean cop dude that was always around
and for some reason hated us.. gee cant imagine why. http://www.fencing.net/forum/smile.gif Anyways, we were walking up and down the street one night and he yelled at us to go back to our house it was past curfew. so we stood there and threw things at him saying like oops watch out. Ah there it goes again.. duck! anyways he got mad and came up to us,(we were on my porch) and yelled at us to stop trying to hit him. to which we brightly responded with. Please get off my proptery youre invading my space and you should know is against the law. He didnt last long after that.. maybe because we put nails in the road for him to back out on to? who knows http://www.fencing.net/forum/rolleyes.gif http://www.fencing.net/forum/confused.gif

| Hmm, my town has no curfew, the cops don't even really mind you fooling around in the middle of the street late at night. They don't seem to care much at all - unless of course somebody calls and asks them to break up a kegger, in which case they always show up. Hmm, actually, they are suspicious of alcohol - I was walking down the main road about midnight with two friends drinking a coke, and a cop parked in the parking lot turned on the searchlight on his car, blinding me so that I practically ran into a telephone poll (he probably thought that I was already drunk instead of in the process of getting drunk.)
I always found the notion of curfews abhorrent - they seem like a blatant violation of your rights. Law enforcement and government have no precedent in this country for social control, and even something that is seemingly innocuous, like the protection of youth, can be the start of an added intrusion into the free movement of law abiding people. Rather, it is the intrusion into the free movement of law abiding people, and, as such, I see it as a threat to a free society. (Then again, judging by the fact that we're currently being ruled by somebody who got fewer votes than one of his competitors, (and I'm talking about actual votes, not artificially created electoral votes) we may very well not live in the society that we think we do. Hmm, then again, I'd have no problem living in a closed societ if I were in control (and thus above the law - hello secret police!)

| Oh, what horrors the teenagers of america go through!!! There is nothing more fun than walking around in the middle of the night, acting like idiots and playing on primary school equipment!!
I'm glad I live in Australia. Maybe you guys should come here...less guns and curfew (shudder).
