| Hi from Toronto Hi, I fenced foil for a number of years in the late 80's and early 90's but have out of the sport for a while.
I'm interested in starting again but am wondering about how my body will react (I'm a reasonably fit 50 yo) and how much equipment I'd need to buy. (I have FIE rated equipment from the 90's but I suspect the standards have changed considerably since then).
Cheers,
Bud.

| Welcome! There's quite a few folks on the forum who are over 40/vets/masters some (like I) started fencing after the age of 40. Most of the Canadians on the forum are adults, and about a 1/3 are in the masters/vet category.
If you find you need fencing gear, locally (in Toronto) you have www.fleche.ca

Thanks, I'll have to check my gear against the standards. I can't remember if it's 800N or 350N.
Of course, that's the easy part. Anyone know where I can buy new knee's?

| I've had really bad knees since my teens. They were always swelling from injuring them too many times. This came to a halt when I started supplementing with fish oil. It's a natural anti-inflammatory and it's good for the joints and brain function. I don't know if your knee issues are the same (several badly torn ligaments and some worn cartilage) but if it is... it might make a difference.
