O.K., Inq., I won't tell you about goosing my gander either...

We would need to select the calendar subjects, as well. We can provide lights, makeup, photography, some props, some limited wardrobe, and probably a place to do it (we can get a "closed set" room somewhere in the venue where we can set up). I would think we'd need to do it after hours.
BUT, this won't work if we try and wing it when we get there. We have to plan it ahead of time, and I need people to email me directly if they're willing to be models (serge@fencingphotos.com). If you're willing to be a model, you will need to sign a model release.
Beyond that, we have to have a way of marketing the calendar and paying for any expenses involved (although there shouldn't be too many). If we want to print and pay for a calendar outright, that's quite expensive (unless we find a sponsor). Alternatively, we can do a print-on-demand calendar using the CafePress capability we have with FencingPhotos.com and people can order it directly.
We'll donate the proceeds to vet fencing -- we need to figure out to what entity and how that works, as well; not sure if it's the USFA.
Thoughts? | I've forwarded your e-mail to some of my co-conspirators and I'm going to send you a PM with some information about what we have thus far. |

It'll be fun. http://www.shop-brigite.com/Classic_Suspender_Thong.htm
Inq can wear the suspender thong and his glasses and us sabre vets will surround him. We'll look even better than the models in that advertisement. After all, if wine improves with age, why would any man be interested in younger women?
Seriously, this will NOT be a swimsuit calendar, although it's fun to joke about it and speculate upon who would look good in what. I think this has progressed from an idea to kick around to something that is highly likely to occur and if we do go forward with this, we'll want it to be something that gives a positive image of veteran fencing.
Of course, I'm not saying that some of us wouldn't present a positive image of veteran fencing if we were wearing, for example, chain mail bikinis. I'm just saying that I cannot imagine 12 veterans agreeing to do this. Especially the men. And I don't think it's the image of a USFA veteran fencer that the majority of us would want to promote... even if we might enjoy flipping through the pages in the privacy of our own rooms.
Underarmour, however, is a fantastic product. I wonder if they'd consider being a veteran fencing sponsor? After all, we do use a lot of their products. Well, *I* do anyway.
Everything I wear under my whites when I'm competing is Underarmour.
Do you think that will make good ad copy? |

| I think the manufacturers of ibuprofen would be an appropriate sponsor.... with coupons on the back page!

| I disagree with Linda, I think it should be swimsuits. But there is nothing wrong with "mature" style swimsuits. Skirts and full length for those women who believe it appropriate but there are certainly a couple of women who could shine in bikinis. I second the thong swimsuit for Inq. But there are undoubtedly a couple of the guys (not me) who could be proud to wear a Speedo.
How about Joe Eliot in an antique style with the legs down to the knees? I want to see Lou Felty and her smile in it also.
Let's face it, it is not going to sell to the general public. But our community will enjoy it and maybe a lot of other fencers also.

Do you think that will make good ad copy? | Along the lines of oldies but goodies: Nothing comes between me and my Underarmour. I only wear Underarmour, or I wear nothing at all.
