Cool, daddy-o....Heavy. Makes more sense than all the "advice" I've received in the last week. Epee=Keith Jarrett?

More accurately it seems to have been popularly theorized that it's designed to create people with bad knees. The Italians probably hired some non-fencers in an attempt to goad others into doing some questionable things with their athletes*.

*That being said I haven't been able to find to a copy of the video at all so I haven't been able to try any of it and verify how quickly my knees would go bad personally.

The German national coach and physio have seen that infamous video. It is so bad on the knees that they would refuse to coach or treat anyone who had followed the exercises in that video, as they are so obviously a bad idea.

FWIW, I do some of these exercises. Not most of the later knee busters, but the first half that's more about foot speed, bouncing on your toes, jumping up, and some squats.

My caveat is I still have decent knees and I was fairly strong and fast when I started doing these a few years ago.

They are awesome for starting speed. I play badminton now and play at the front of the net. It's a position that requires instant speed over short distances. I feel like a monster at the net when I do these.

Here's what I've learned.
  • I do them twice a week for a few weeks and then lay for a few weeks off; I don't do them constantly.
  • If I have pain anywhere, I stop immediately and try again another day. No second chances; there's always something else you can work on for the rest of that day.
  • I wear aerobic shoes rather than anything resembling fencing shoes. It's a pain because the shoes are heavier, but the forefoot cushioning is more important for me.
  • I don't improvise. I tried to do some lateral pushing off to simulate badminton and wound up with turf toe.
  • I do them to music to keep my energy up and always focus on the initiation of the action and trying to keep my feet in contact with the floor for as short a time as possible. Like all plyometrics, that's where the money is.
  • I don't do them to exhaustion. I feel like that's asking for trouble. They make you tired, for sure, but I always quit once I'm no longer able to concentrate on the quality of the movement

Italian plyometric workout CD

If you want it, here it is:

https://sslsites.de/allstar.de/index...1e4bcdd7921baa

Worth buying just to be amazed.

By the way, the guy who demonstrates is Raffaello Caserta. I think the female is Vezzali, but am not sure.

Oh, I have mad love for the raquetball room my friend...but between Josh and I team plyos have gotten at least 5 or 6 times more fun recently
