    Should I sleep out?

Should I grab a pillow sleep in the woods for the night? Cuz the weather is beautiful!

Of course. Watch out for aliens that might abduct you though.

He has cows, which he'd probably sacrifice himself for.

I don't understand the big deal with sleeping outside, so I'll vote "no". There's a reason people sleep inside in modern societies when they have the choice: no bugs, comfortable sleeping surface, weather/temperature isn't an issue, convenient lighting on hand, bathrooms and snacks available, etc.

I'm sure I'll be drowned out by the idealists, but seems silly to me.

By coyotes? He's not from Mexico, is he? That happened to a second cousin of mine, once. And I thought only dingos did that.

No, I heard them get pretty close, but they kinda skirted me...I did have to ditch at 3 AM, though, when it started raining.

Yikes, seems like that rain ruined your night.

At least you had Vermont Cow's defending you from the evil coyotes.

Speaking as a backpacker, you should aways sleep out whenever possible. Rain? That is what tents or bivvy sacks are for.
Nothing more restful than the pit-pat of rain on a tent fly.
Nothing more soothing than the woosh of a winter wind through the top of the trees across your tent.
Nothing weirder than the strange coughing noise deer make when they choke on little twigs as they browse around your tent

I agree! The most restful sleeps are the ones I've had outside. If you spend a lot of time in the bush/wilderness it's hard getting used to sleeping indoors when you get home.

Nothing scarier than the sound of a rabbit being snatched by an owl.

In case you didn't know, rabbits can scream...
