Decent place, but expensive.
So, immediately around BU is ... BU. In order to GET to the places that have reasonable rents and people to share with, it's usually more comfortable to bike or take the T. The T isn't reasonable very late at night, and biking isn't reasonable in the middle of the winter. Safety is fine-- I mean, it's a city, and common sense should be followed, but it's not horrible.... | when "late at night" is defined as 11 PM, the T is PERFECTLY reasonable.

| She's lived and worked in NYC, taking the train up to Westchester County area for commute. She went to CMU for undergrad. So I think she can at least handle the weather and some lateness. But, it's her uncanny ability to not be able to overcome intuition with rational sense that makes having to ask illogical questions part of the fun.

-m | Over my undergraduate career, I walked around campus at ever possible hour, and felt comfortable, which was one of the huge perks of going to school where I did.
You can't T home at 3 AM, and I wouldn't necessarily feel comfortable walking a couple miles in any direction around BU at 3 AM.
That was my only point....

And given that EDew is likely not asking for advice on where his step-daughter should go to school, not particularly relevant. Unless you're suggesting commuting from NoHo.

| Where you went to school the campus is fine, north of the campus is fine, so is west....south/east not so much. Although that whole area is getting much better.
Dunno that I would advise walking around South or East at 3am though |

| My stepdaughter is getting an MBA at BU. So any walking at 3AM should be staggering out of a bar with her MBA comrades. Right?
