| Greetings fellow fencers! I am new to this sport. I had my first fencing lesson and I am extremely excited to get started! Of course we only worked on feet, but I stayed late and watched the instructors bout- very impressive!
I have a few questions about equipment. What are the best websites to order from? What kind of grip do you suggest for a beginner? (grip, hilt; whatever you call it)
The club is letting us use their equipment, but I do eventually want my own so I can practice at home. (My mother is also taking fencing!) I only need information on foil for now because it will be some time before I move on to the others Thanks.

You're a foilist right? If not, stop reading, close this window, and quit life. Quote:

Foil is what the cool kids fence. Foil is what champions are found fencing on Mt. Olympus. There is nothing to a foil-less life. Mark my words, (and tattoo them on yourself) Foil is the best weapon. If you even consider the other 2 'weapons'.

| I highly recommend the grip with the sabre attached to it. If you get the chance, watch and/or try all three weapons. |

I'd talk to your coach about equipment. He/she will know what's best for you, may be able to get you the equipment at a discount, and help you size it properly. |
