    Fencing in Cairo, Egypt?

    Hey all,

Does anyone know of any fencing clubs in Cairo, Egypt or where I can look for fencing clubs in the city? I went on the fie website, but could not find the club directory. I am looking for a place to train for two months this summer.

    Thank you

Oh, I know there's an egyptian forum member on here that attended the camp in Szombathely (HUN). What's his name...ah, there he is: Mahmoud Taher.

If I were you I would drop him an e-mail and ask. I've no idea where in EGY he lives, but I'm certain he could guide you. (He fences épée btw.)

There's also a reserved domain; http://www.egyptfencing.com, but it looks empty right now...

As always, summers are usually not the best periods to look for fencing, but give it a try. Good luck.
    Fencing is my only PvP.

One of the guys on our team was abroad in Cairo first semester this season. He apparently found a pretty good club to fence at, if you want I can try to get in touch with him about club info.

I was in Cairo last year to photograph the grand prix, and some of the Egyptian fencers invited me to the Egyptian Olympic Training Center. They had a full floor of the building devoted to fencing; they provided me with all my gear to have a very full and fun evening of epee practice with their team. I would think that this facility is open for regular practice for non-team members, but I am not sure.

Mahmoud is a good person to contact, but I may have some other contacts if you need them.
