Is it moral of the USFA and the FIE to condone or fail to condone the screwless tip? Taking a position on either side of the debate could lead to declining numbers of fencers.
Some might think that by condoning the screwless lifestyle the Governing Bodies are religious conservatives and don't believe in engaging in healthy acitivity. Another possible outcome could place more importance on the word tip wherein one might be lead to believe they are in favor only those with useful tips from being barred from participating.
On the other hand if they ban the screwless tip then they are in fact supporting increased activities of an immoral and reprehensible nature contrary to the long and proud history of our sport. By banning the screwless tip they would be requiring each tip to screw, thus restricting freedom of choice in a very private matter. This could also be a possible Title Nine violation in that it does not provide for equal participation for those with a complete lack of tips.
