Array Blog Views Craig,
Some of the public blogs are suddenly showing unusually high view numbers. For example, if you look at "Top Viewed Entries" you see Jason's at the top with almost 30,000, one of lindajdunn's at about 6,000 and one of mine at 4,000.
As you may know, a popular entry will get 100 or 200 views.
What's up?
Is it a software glitch? As part of the new upgrade also made it easier for the search engines to find f-net?
I would also like to take this opportunity to remind folks that public entries can be viewed by people who are not members of f-net. They are open to anyone that cares to read your online journal. You might want to think about what you make "public".
Private entries (or private journals) can be restricted to a group of friends or just yourself. They can't be read by people other than those on your list (unless someone's good at hacking or are a f-net moderator). Array lindajdunn's blog is now at 26K. About 20K overnight. Lots of people interested in her Chocolate Crash... or somebody has been busy. For what purpose, who knows. Whoever it is, seems to be working on one entry at a time. First Jason's, then lindajdunn's, mine's next down the line. Array And while we're on the subject -- how the h*ll does one make ones journal Private? I tick the little box and click "Save Settings" and get the following error message:
Warning: fopen(/home/fencing/www/forums/blogs/datastore/1459/styleid.php) [function.fopen]: failed to open stream: Permission denied in [path]/blogs/backend/functions_blog.php on line 522
Fatal error: Could not open /home/fencing/www/forums/blogs/datastore/1459/styleid.php for reading in [path]/blogs/backend/functions_blog.php on line 525

Array That's not working either. I have been able to make entries private. Beer, it's whats for dinner! ~ a young snowboarding Canadian The meek don't want it! ~ sticker on a rock band's guitar -

Array I'll take a look at those. The developer for that blog software has stopped developing but the forum developer has their own version that integrates better (and will be kept up to date). I'm looking at the migration process before doing that.
I suspect the views thing has more to do with google spiders than anything else. I'll have to tweak settings as spiders should not count as page views.

Array I hope this all works out. I am getting pretty old and I need to read something " racy" in FG's blog once in a while just to keep the blood moving. -

Array I HATE to revive an old thread, but was it ever decided that the new "friends" in this software have access to private blog entries?

Array Glad you brought up this thread, as nothing has changed. I just looked into this with my own blog. New friends can't see my private entries but folks on my original buddy list can.
I suspect Craig's been pretty busy these days and hasn't had a chance to work on the forum much lately. Hopefully by bringing up old threads like this, it will serve as a reminder when he sits down to do some fine tuning.
