| Too bad it doesn't include the fencers' divisions. To find all the fencers from my club who are confirmed, I have to search through the entire list for names I recognize. Ah, for a registration database that would allow flexible queries...

| If the past is any guide, that'll be posted after the deadline for late entries.

| How about this version (I couldnt upload because of limits, so I have to try and link) Summer Nationals 2008 With Division and Rating Information
So that lookup function isn't working like I had hoped. I spot checked a few and it was right, but the more I look, the more its wrong. Data is all there though for someone with more time to mess with it.

I, like almost all the other referees, go because of the athletes and their needs. I also realize that there are some of us who really would want to be there but can't because of the $. I have not missed a NAC in many years and think I know most of the old hands and the newer ones. I hope that the athletes, parents, and coaches all realize why we come and take the physical, mental and emotional abuse. We mostly all care about the athletes and our sport. I believe if any have to decide to not come, it will be because they CAN"T, not because they are mad at the USFA. So please, every one, don't place any assumptions on why someone is not able to attend. I am always concerned that some may want to make this a political issue and that the referees will get lost in the personal rhetoric. We all want to be there if we can. I stand by each referees' decision and hope others will also, not because of some political stance but because we all need to stand up for this dedicated group!

| I wonder when close of check in times will be posted. On the USFA website it states they will be posted after the first registration deadline, but that was over two weeks ago.
From USFA Website:
"2008 Summer Nationals Schedule
Check-in Times will be posted after the first registration deadline"
THS has a two week cancellation policy for hotel reservations.

The people and teams that I knew anything about are WRONG, as to division and rating. |

| Summer Nationals 2008 Does anybody know which Exhibit Hall is reserved for the tournament?
Both the Marriot and Hilton are connected to the convention center, but the Marriot is closer to Hall 1 (NE corner), and the Hilton to Hall 3 (SW corner). Since the host hotel is the Marriot, I would think Hall 1 is the location.
(I've attached a map of the convention hall if anybody is interested.)
Coming from out of town, having a lay of the land before arriving helps reduce stress.
Also, fingers crossed for a super efficient equipment check on Monday night!! I plan on arriving early after waiting for hours in Miami the night before (although this was greatly improved in subsequent NACs). |

I plan on arriving early after waiting for hours in Miami the night before (although this was greatly improved in subsequent NACs). | Given that a NAC uses 100,000 square feet and SN is larger than the NACs, I would expect that all three halls will be in use (for a total of 143k sqft.)
Once you arrive, take a stroll around the venue to get oriented. Even if things are closed and locked, you should be able to find the check-in area, which really is the only thing you need to worry about. Once inside the halls, you will most likely be walking around a lot (depending on where your events are relative to where you park your bag.)
The SJ convention center isn't nearly as vast a complex as some of the others we've been to in past years, so it should be fairly convenient. But there's always a lot of walking involved at these sorts of things...

| Also notable is that the Officials are staying in the Hilton, but the host hotel for athletes is the Marriott.

| Given in Atlanta we stayed blocks away and walked past the Omni (understandably) I don't think you can use hotel positioning to tell much about venue location. It's all about who is willing to deal with us. |

Looking at the Hilton CC pdf, I "BELIEVE" the parking garage would be at the bottom of the page, the across the street is out to the left hand side. At least the way the pdf opened up for me.

| Host hotel for everybody is the Hilton. Not that that means that it's closer. |
