It would require a combination of luck, speeding and no traffic to make it from 101 @ mathilda to the venue in 10 minutes. If there's traffic it can easily take twice to three times as long.

I predict I will not look like a stuffed sausage in my new whites from "House of Portly Fencers"

I am interested in how the TSA will react to my CPAP machine. Allegedly they know what they are and pass them through. I also predict that I will experience aphasia and apraxia during bouts and get frustrated with my recovery from my stroke and brain surgeries. (Aphasia not so much an issue)

I also predict that I will have a good time and finish on my feet, my two main goals.

My coach travels with a CPAP. Since it counts as medical equipment, you should take it on the plane with you and it won't count as a carryon.

If you're in V50MF, we may face each other. I'll keep an eye out for you. I'm Jeff Porterfield. Hope to meet you. You impress me greatly.

However, I won't lose on purpose, even for a dollar.

TSA does know what CPAP machines are. You will have to remove it from it's case and they will test for explosives.

If you are as lucky as I was, this will be done by an Arab-American TSA agent who will be talking to his fellow Arabic-American TSA agent in Arabic.

I'm surprised there isn't someone "live blogging" at Nationals. Maybe one of these years I'll come just to blog the event. I'm sure there will be plenty of blogging afterwards. For those following along, what kind of information would you like to see if someone were live blogging?

I might. Once I stop crying. OK, so the CPAP should clear TSA. How about mask and Lame? I am thinking of shipping my body cords along with the weapons. (SKB Hard case)

There were 2 2nd day black cards I believe, one of which was for the tournament.

I hate that phrase. Incidentally, if anyone were to take you up on it they should be black carded when they report to their pool.

As long as you're providing the gossip. What were they for? Is there a scale for black cards?

Probably redundant but someone may not have heard. It was DCFC over NYAC in Junior Men's epee team. NYAC had been looking real good until the gold medal bout. Wasn't keeping count but it just seemed to me that NYAC fell short in their attacks. I saw a lot of attempted toe touches that were short and lost the point to DCFC. And in in-fighting DCFC was on top.

Take a look at t.118 & t.119 and the footnotes to the penalty chart.

I wouldn't get too excited. Nancy can still overturn it and insult the referees' professionalism again.

With all do respect to the female refs, were they not the ones who gave the black cards? I say this not because of their gender, but perhaps because the violators in question may have thought they could push them around. The one coach who got carded (of a certain female saber fencer from the Midwest who I won't name) was/is a jerk. I saw him in the venue 2 days later (wearing the same clothes, by the way) so it must have been just for the day, even though they had to call security?

    Referees

Saw some new referees since the "regulars" weren't there. Were they unofficially on strike? The referees' calls we had were somewhat questionable. Any comments on your experiences?
