Your son won't be competing by then, but if you have the time, bring him to the Sunshine State Games next month -- it's not a huge event, but it's about as big as they get in Florida.
I'll be fencing Saturday and refereeing on Sunday.

Where is the Sunshine State Games? thank you for letting me know, and good luck for your game this weekend!!!!!! Quote:

| Hello Lefty_monster, we went to club several times now. Everybody is very friendly. Coach Boyko tried to adjust my son's schedule with other kids to let him blend in. Before my son went to first class he was afraid of getting hurt. Now he is more relax and enjoy more. Quote:

| Hi Nicksmom, I don't know much about fencing, but I think fencing is going to be an interesting new world for me. Thank you for your kindness. Quote:

Where is the Sunshine State Games? thank you for letting me know, and good luck for your game this weekend!!!!!! | They are June 14 & 15 in Lakeland at the Lakeland center.
Ask around at your club; I'm sure several people are going. It's a nice event b/c besides its size, it has a lot of other sports going on at the same venue all at the same time.
If you happen to be around on the 1st day, I'll have "GOULD" on the back of my jacket. If you're around the second day, I'll be the good-looking epee ref, but we all dress the same.

| Welcome to fnet. Hopefully, for your sake, the goofballs leave you alone for a while. (There are a lot of us--erm, them, around here.) But fencing is a really enjoyable sport and the community is wonderful.
Maybe at some point, you'll take it up too!

Thanks HDG, if my schedule allows me to go there, for sure I will look for you. For sb works in healthcare, weekend shift is a real pain. |

| Yas, Fatfencer, who knows, maybe someday I will be fencing in front of you.
Protecting the weak, fighting for beauty and justice. This is what I understand about fencing.
I felt so sad these day. Maybe it is not right time, but I want to share a song with you. If you have heart problem please do not go in. http://web.wenxuecity.com/BBSView.ph...y&MsgID=319848
Many years ago I came from the city about 50 miles away from epicenter, so these kids are like my kids..... Quote:

| For many years I read stories about giang hu... stories of heroic swordsmen who studied baguazhang and taiji sword to defend the righteous. In America we have Zorro and the Three Musketeers...much the same. For example the "League of the Scarlet Pimpernel" is the same as the "Red Flower Society." Quote:

| It's terrible what is happening in China now. Not only because of the earthquake but because of rampant, ill-planned industrailization. Not much of China's land is useful because of the desert and mountain areas. Three Gorges Dam is a nightmare also for the Chinese people. Much culture and history has been destroyed due to that thing.
Anyways, welcome to the forum. When you fence, try foil first!!! It's the best!!

| Hey there! I'm a mom of a fencer and a mom who fences! My son challenged me over a year ago that I couldn't fence... proved him wrong!
Oh, and we are in Florida, too (Jacksonville) and will be at the Sunshine State Games next month. Here comes the Herndon/Carter duo!
