Tis evil you want???

The year, 2159. The place, Arconia.
Over one-thousand years after the kingdom came into existence, it still stood through wars, upheavals, coups, and many dynasties.

VVvvvooooo
Princess Jenna was speeding off on her jet-cycle, a two-wheeled vehicle powered by a nuclear steam-engine generator. She was the great, great, great, great...and so on, grand-daughter of Queen Zelda, the first queen of the Arconian kingdom.

Arconia had seen almost one-hundred fifty years of peace since the Four-Countries wars. It had been three family generations and the citizens did not know what is was like to live in war times. Only what was written in the history books revealed a portion of the pain and suffering.

The Belon kingdom lost the Four-Countroes War as Arconia gained allies to survive insurmountable odds. The allied forces and Arconia took over the Belonian territory and ruled it with an ever-present police force.

Princess Jenna chose a career in the Arconian army and became an officer in the military police. Her first assignment was to serve in the Arconian district of Belonia.

Maroz Torbak, the great, great, grandson of Horz Torbak, was a source of pain to all police forces in Belonia. Horz Torbak was the chief-commander of the Belonian ground forces and died while fighting the Four-Countries War.

Princess Jenna, along with other new police officers, were fully debriefed on Maroz Torbak and his underground army. She studied everything about Maroz and got the pictures of his face ingrained into her memory.

"Princess Jenna, you are wanted in the debriefing room." The PA system only came on in emergency situations. Also, Princess Jenna is referred to as Princess Jenna instead of Officer Jenna. It is by kingdom rules that monarchy retain their title whether they serve in the military or not.

Princess Jenna had just gotten dressed and was ready to leave the gymnasium. She promptly reported to the debriefing room with her hair still uncombed.

She stepped into the room and spoke sternly, "Princess Jenna reporting for duty." Everyone had a serious countenance. She knew this had to do something with Maroz.

Captain Ken-dall spoke, "Princess Jenna, there has been multiple bombings in the eastern quadrant. Over thirty people have been injured and ten are reported dead. The Marmar police force have asked us for assistance in the investigation. They suspect this is the work of Maroz and know we can offer some insight. Our forces are all on full alert for possible bombings in our quadrant. I have assigned you and Officer Dragos to assist the Marmar police force."
"Princess Jenna, we have a vet-mobile waiting in bay 20," spoke Officer Dragos. "It will be taking off in thirteen-hundred hours."
The vet-mobile was named after an ancient vehicle called the Corvette. Although, the vet-mobile is powered with nuclear steam-engine generators and is made of Graflon, a space-age material twice as strong as carbon fiber and of the same weight.

Princess Jenna immediately went to her quarters to pack her gear. Her assignment to go to the eastern quadrant was until the investigation was over. After packing her suitcases, she headed to the weapons depot to pick up her tactical weapons.

Patrol duty officers carried a 9mm semi-automatic handgun. Tactical weapons were only given to those who were doing more than patrol duty.

The weapons depot officer read of his checklist to Princess Jenna, "9mm handgun... MZ-20... FA-3... four 9mm clips... six MZ-20 clips... 50 FA-3 cartridges.

The 9mm is fully automatic and has a vented barrel to counter the barrel's tip flipping up. It shoots at 120 rounds per minute. This is a very old weapon and dates back to the Four-Countries War.
The MZ-20 was a weapon designed 20 years ago. It is a mini-Gatling gun with dual sets of 8mm barrels capable of shooting 1400 rounds per minute.
The FA-3 is somewhat like a shotgun but shoots mini-grenades out of a 10 gauge barrel. It can hold 6 rounds at a time with pump-action reloading. Each mini-grenade contains YL-3 and a mini-detonator. YL-3 is a chemical substance that has the same explosive power as C-4 but only explodes when it comes in contact with a catalyst, which is in the mini-detonator. The FA-3 is only eight years old and is only given to special forces combat and police forces.

Princess Jenna unloaded her equipment into the trunk of the vet-mobile and jumped into the cockpit with Officer Dragos.

Wewwwwirrr
The vet-mobile sped off at 200 km/hr. Their E.T.A. (Estimated Time of Arrival) was fourteen-hundred hours.

"So, this is your first tour and you've only spent nine days on patrol duty. How do you feel?" asked Dragos.

"I'm ready," replied Jenna.

"Hmm, confident. Good..." said Dragos as he sped up to 250 km/hr on the freeway. "You know this guy Maroz Torbak is a real..."

Jenna interrupted, "Oh, I'm fully informed about Maroz Torbak and his underground forces."

Dragos glanced around the vet-mobile. "You know, it's totally different in the eastern quadrant. Very war torn. It's not rebuilt like the western quadrant. The Marmar Republic treats it like a ghetto. They don't put any money into restoring the area."

"I see. Have you been there before?" asked Jenna.

"Oh yeah, twice. Both times, I was investigating bombings. That's why I'm assigned to this one." replied Dragos. "A word of advice, stick by my side and don't question my judgement."

a surprise attack on arconia. call the arconia secret service, i believe there is a sabruse there who moves rather stealthfully between nations. he, as well as his new consort, elvira, should be able to fill the ears of the king with new tales. of course, it is up to a wise king to decipher the truth of the tales or the deception. lucrecia bogia

Officer Dragos slowed the vet-mobile as he approached the guard shack entering the eastern quadrant. The flag of the Marmar Rebublic was painted on the side of the shack. Three soldiers surrounded the vet-mobile as they made a stop at the shack.
"Hello, where are you from and where are you going?" asked the guard.

Officer Dragos pulled out his badge and gave it to the guard, "We are with the Arconian Military Police... we have a meeting with the Marmar Police Force."

The guard typed away at a computer and waited a second. "Here," the guard handed his badge back. "Enjoy your stay Officer Dragos."

"Will do," quipped Dragos. He put his badge away and flipped up a lever. "This is where it gets rough."

"Huh?" mumbled Jenna.

The vet-mobile began shaking around as they drove on the rough roads. Dragos set the suspension for "rough driving" conditions but the roads in the eastern quadrant hadn't been paved in over one-hundred years.

They arrived at the Marmar police headquarters. A drab grey building with boarded up windows. The flag, again, was painted on the side of the building. There were no cloth flags anywhere.

"So Jenna, you loaded your weapons?" asked Dragos as he turned off the engine.
"Uh, that's Princess Jenna, and no. I thought we would load before going on the scene." replied Jenna.
"Ah yes, Princess Jenna. Excuse me your royal highness. Load up now and fully pack your holster. The second we step out of this vehicle, we need access to all weapons all the time." spoke Dragos.

Chu...chuch
Jenna loaded the final round into her FA-3 and unlocked her door. "Ready."
"Good" said Dragos. He opened his door and looked around with his hand on his holster. There were plenty of guards around but he felt very nervous.

Officer Dragos and Princess Jenna supplied their badges to the building's guard room. Security was tight at the police headquarters.
"Please wait here, Officer Tanko will escort you to the war room."

"You've been here before too?" asked Jenna.
"Once, it's quite nice inside" replied Dragos.

Officer Tanko stepped out of the main gate, "Officer Jenna, Officer Dragos, follow me please."

The two followed Officer Tanko in a maze-like direction of hallways. They finally stopped at a large metal door. Officer Tanko swiped a security card through a scanner and put his hand on a fingerprint scanner.

Chich clik
The door lock released and Officer Tanko opened the door. "Please step in quickly."

Princess Jenna and Officer Dragos entered a brightly-lit room with a large table in the middle surrounded by eight uniformed men.

Officer Dragos and Princess Jenna were debriefed on the recent bombings in the eastern quadrant. All the bombs were homemade liquid-fuel bombs with digital, alarm clock detonators. A definite indicator that this was the work of Maroz Torbak's army.

Chief Commander Reev continued debriefing them, "...all the bombs had gone off within two minutes of each other at noon. All bombs were located in public markets where immigrants lived, also known here as the Hyvar district." He pointed to a section of the map on the table. "The locals reported some suspicious looking people yesterday. They wore the red and black clothing. We don't know why the underground army chose to attack this district. They usually focus their attacks against the police forces."

Captain Tanko interjected, "We do have one lead on this case. A security camera in one of the stores caught faces of three of the suspicious men. In conjunction with other investigations, we believe that the Maroz followers now wear red and black uniforms and make money through extortion of local businesses. These bombing are a threat to business owners so that they pay them for protection services. Very mafia like and nothing we haven't seen before. If you can take a look at the pictures, maybe it will help."

No offense, 355, and I say this with complete impartiality - but your writing's missing some serious substance. Interesting concept, but lacking substance.

My grandmother used to say, "Opinions are like noses--everybody has one."

Which is prefatory to my respectfully disagreeing with you, Sword.

So far it's a nicely-paced narrative, of the type you would expect from a longer piece, like a novella. The substance will come later, I think.

Unless by "substance" you mean something different than I do, which is always possible.

In any case, I'd like to see where this goes.

Kudos, 355! With the proper motivation, you can actually do a good job. This has potential. I could easily see something like this, with the right editing, end up in a scifi/fantasy magazine.

Vvviwwwwweeeeeee

It was eighteen-hundred hours. Officer Dragos and Princess Jenna were heading to their temporary quarters.

Bepp beeep... bepp beeep
Princess Jenna picked up the radio phone, "Princess Jenna?"

"Princess Jenna, Officer Tanko speaking. We've got a real-time report on the location of Maroz Torbak. I'm sending you the coordinates to your mobile screen. We are en route as we speak."

"We'll be there ASAP." barked Jenna.
Officer Dragos had already turned on the mobile screen to view the map image. "I've got a funny feeling about this..." said Dragos. His hands were gripping the steering wheel tightly.

Jenna double-checked her holsters as she tried to remain calm.

The radio beeped again and Jenna picked up the receiver, "Princess Jenna speaking..."

"Officer Tanko here. We have arrived a block from the residency. Can you see Geet Avenue on the map?"

As she squinted at the mobile screen, see replied, "yes, it's north of the house."

"Good. We are at the corner of Geet Avenue and Bannos Street. Half the team will be approaching from the south. Over."

Jenna stared ahead as she put the receiver down, "We will meet them a block north of the house on Geet and Bannos."

"And not a moment too soon," said Dragos as he turned the vet-mobile onto Geet Ave.

EDITOR'S NOTE: Yes, it's not Michael Creighton material, but I am writing more with a Manga/Japanimation story in my mind. You have to imagine Princess Jenna as a beautiful brunette with a police uniform and an attitude and Officer Dragos as a stud-muffin, Fabio-like, macho character. Their vehicles and weapons are high-tech. Otherwise, the plot is thin and everything is action and hot-foxy mommas.

"Beezh flak des tow."
"Beeyet."
"Banes...tak layma mas."

Officer Dragos and Princess Jenna approached the Marmar police officials. "Officer Tanko..." said Dragos.

"Officer Dragos and Jenna, excuse me for speaking my native language." Officer Tanko turned to the officer and pointed down the street, "Klee menna veet. Choda dem." The officer turned and began jogging to the corner.

"So, what is the plan?" asked Jenna. It was a bit unusual to see Officer Tanko out of uniform and in a black tactical jumpsuit, the TP-9A lugged over this shoulder was also out of place. A TP-9A is an Arconian-made weapon (exported to Marmar). Unique in appearance, it shoots .410 gauge shotgun slugs at a full-auto speed of 400 rounds per minute from two clips attached to the top making it look like mouse ears.

"Like I already said on the radio, there is a second force which will strike simultaneously as we attack from the north. Intelligence has reported he is on the second floor of that gray building. We will follow the first group." explained Officer Tanko.

Officer Dragos was a bit puzzled, "What do you mean by first..."

FZZZzzz KKKKKKRRRRRR!!!

The ground shook as two rockets blew up the second floor.

"Officer Dragos and Jenna, follow me!" yelled Officer Tanko as he started running towards the corner. Machine gun fire was heard as Jenna and Dragos followed Officer Tanko.

Gun fire lit up the dim evening sky. The home did contain Maroz Torbak followers, and they returned fire.

"J-K-K!" was heard through Officer Tanko's earpiece.

Officer Tanko turned to Dragos and Jenna, "Close your ears!" Two seconds later, three JK-K rockets were launched into the building demolishing the entire first floor. The upper floors caved in immediately after.

The dust began clearing and Officer Dragos and Tanko stood up. The scene became filled with police and fire vehicles and personnel. It took five hours for them to discover Maroz was not inside the building. They did find some important evidence to previous crimes and clues to future plans.

It was seven in the morning. Officer Dragos and Princess Jenna arrived promptly at the Marmar police headquarters.

"This should be interesting, the Marmar investigators were up all night." spoke Officer Dragos as he made himself a cup of coffee.

"Oh, the Marmar police have an interesting 'blow-up-building-first, find-clues-later' style of investigation" quipped Jenna.

"Yeah... military rocket launchers... interesting," said Officer Dragos.

The Marmar police officers began walking down the hall in almost military fashion.
"Officer Jenna, Officer Dragos, good morning. Please follow us to the meeting room." said Officer Tanko. He didn't look like he slept at all. In actuality, he had just enough time to shower and suit up in uniform.

As everyone sat around the main table, a secretary came in with stacks of paper. Officer Tanko and the police chief began talking to each other in their native Marmar language.

"We are handing out the report and findings of last nights raid. Please turn to our projector screen after I turn off the lights." spoke Officer Tanko.
Just as the last person received his pile of papers, Officer Tanko began his debriefing. "Our intelligence department worked with an informer that Maroz Torbak was living and or working out of 200 Geet Avenue, oddly enough, in the southern area of the Hyvar district. In the basement, we found substances used to make bombs and ammunition reloading supplies and equipment. We were very fortunate that the basement did not blow up or catch on fire. The three men who were on the second floor were high-ranking men in Maroz Torbak's underground army. Two men were on the first floor and one man on the third floor and we believe they were lower ranking or soldiers." Officer Tanko turned the slide to photos taken of pages from a notebook. "These notebooks contain schedules, plans, names and contact numbers. This particular notebook was found in the jacket pocket of Biol Pyzal. We all consider him to be Maroz Torbak's right-hand man. We contacted the Marmar consulate to get an interpreter to translate everything. It is most fortunate that we discovered their future plans. But along with that, we feel Maroz and his army will change their agenda accordingly."

Officer Tanko was silent for a moment. "Maroz Torbak and his army have here... plans to infiltrate the capital cities of each country whose police force is occupying Belonia... and to blow up bombs in public areas. In return, they want money to stop the bombings. The Marmar police department have already informed the governments of Arconia, Geltarra and Jiror." Officer Tanko turned off the projector and lit up the room. "Officer Dragos and Officer Jenna, you are no longer needed on the bombing investigation. We have contacted your police department and they are expecting you back today. Thank you for your assistance." He extended his hand towards Officer Dragos.
Princess Jenna and Officer Dragos stood up and shook his hand. "We are more than happy to assist in this matter," spoke Jenna. Dragos followed, "It was a pleasure working with you Officer Tanko."

Veewwwwww
The vet-mobile sped off. Jenna and Dragos were both equally shocked.
"Hmm, didn't I say... I felt funny at one point?" asked Dragos.
