There's a boutique restaurant about a block from my home that serves a fabulous variety of gelato. It rocks.

My recent favorite was Chocolate Basil.

My favourite flavour has also been sent to the Flavor Graveyard- I loved B&J's One Sweet Whirled. My current favourite is B&J's Imagine Whirled Peace.

Hazelnut Gelato

Mmmm. Definately a good choice. Lived in Germany for 5 years, and gelato was certainly a nice treat. Hazelnut, too, was an exotic treat compared to US fare.

Still, a good mint chocolate chip is hard to beat, although cookies and cream can give it a run for its money.

As for all the other specialty flavors...if it's not a classic that's going to be around for a while, tough to consider for me. Those ice creams taste good because they're usually made with higher quality ingredients and are rare/unique, so they get the advantage of novelty.
