    Now That's Customer Service!

Recently I purchased a Golf Guard hard case from a friend at work to transport my fencing gear to NACs and the Nationals. When I flew out to Chicago for the Rosemont NAC, the airline knocked both wheels off of it. They have a disclaimer that says they are not responsible for wheels, but they gave me a $25 voucher for future travel on Airtran. Big whoop.

I finally found a contact number for the manufacturer after extensive searching on the web. They have been taken over by Plano (the fishing tackle box people). I called the customer service number and asked about replacement parts. The lady who answered was very nice. She helped me determine the model number of the case and the part numbers for what I needed. Then she asked for my address and said, "That's all I need." I asked her if she didn't need my credit card information and she said she didn't. They were going to ship me the wheels and cap nuts for free. Just like that.

These people are great folks to do business with.
The spirit is willing, but the fleche is weak.

No such luck from United. They managed to chop half a wheel off my big fencing.net roll bag and refused to give any compensation for the same reason. Luckily, it turns out that the wheels are the same size as those on razor scooters.

How is that lucky? Just buy another wheel rather then a scooter.

That's what he DOES mean....lucky in that replacement wheels are commercially available and not a special order thing.

They have replacement parts for those scooters in stores? I've never noticed them at Wal-Mart or anywhere like that.

But I'm not the one in need of a wheel. I'm sure I could've found one if I was in need of it, but it hasn't came up. Besides, I have a spare scooter that I could use for wheels :P

Wal-mart? Try a sporting goods store. Here on the left coast Big 5 Sporting goods is where I find them.

I didn't care that much for the wheels that came on my LeonPaul Bag. Bag's fine but the small wheels made rolling down long carpeted stretches, ala Atlanta, a real pain. The larger wheels make it so much easier, and they have ball bearings.
It was fairly easy to replace the LP wheels and axle with a threaded rod and scooter wheels.

They lost one of my feels, too. That is, after putting my bag on the wrong plane and sending it to the wrong state. They did a good job getting it back to me in a day, though. o.o
