Hit the deck, it's another sabre PIL question At a tournament this past weekend, the action occurred as follows. I make an attack, which misses. I immediately establish point in line as my opponent is still finishing his retreat. He stands flat-footed for a moment, then attacks with an advance lunge into my line for two lights. My director calls it in my favor, saying that I had enough time between the end of my initial attack and the start of his new one to establish a valid, unbroken line, which he then impaled himself on.
I thought it was a good call(which is, of course, partially because I got the touch), but my opponent was still complaining about it an hour later. Who's right? -

If it was a tempo, then it was your touch, if it was not a tempo then it was not your touch. Impossible to tell w/o video. -
I read it as a full tempo...I wouldn't have thrown out a line if I didn't think I could pull it off, but I'm kinda biased. -

Array Generally speaking, if the opponent has enough time to look at it, and say "oh! that is a point in line!"
Then its been established in time...
This recalls an incident from back in my college days. Couple of teammates are fencing in practice. Guy on the left establishes a PIL. Guy on the right says "I see the point in line!" He then proceeds to impale himself upon it. That's it, I'm done with the discussion forums on F.net. It's had its uses, but the ideologues, ranters, and "experts" have drowned too many of the conversations. I'm changing my password to something random and never logging in again. -

Then its been established in time... But if I have enough time to look at it and say "oh! that is a late counter-attack!" it's not in time?
I once tried to use this definition with two respected referees in a row (giving the referee seminar in my Division) and they both shot me down.

The referee ALWAYS leaves room for the fencer to be mistaken about what's going on on strip. Similar Threads -
