One interesting experience I heard about from some Australian students in the US was being congratulated on how well they spoke English and asked where they learned it.

It was even funnier when I heard the exact same thing happen to an English student.

My wife, and American, was amused.

Some of them have the same access that those in West Africa do. And by the appearance of some of the people they were interviewing....Not really making any excuses for anybody. But ignorance runs rampant in every country.

Why would pointing out that the stupidity of people is not contained to one region of the world make me feel better? Hell, I'd be happier if it were only in one spot, it could be fixed then. As it is, the majority of the world is ignorant and is happy being so. I just have personal knowledge of West Africa, so that is the example given. I work within my personal knowledge, although I'm quite sure if you decided to go to any given country, you can find the local nook of ignorance there too.
