Men's epee looks excellent. 115 fencers -- Why does it start after foil?

| Yeah, when it was at 60, I thought that was kinda low. But when I last looked, it was just over a hundred, and now at 115, that sounds a bit ridiculous! Should be awesome though, it looks like every epee nerd in the West will be there, just about.

| ME top 8 in somewhat alphabetical order:
1. Garret Carnahan
2. Gago
3. Cooper Gegan
3. Eric Hansen
4. Phillip Hedges
5. Keith Lichten
6. Kevin Mo
7. Mike Raynis
8. Tigran Shaginian
that would be a pretty sick 8
...other good fencers that could also make it :
Jens Stephan, Gyorgy Ordody, Deric Clarke, David Jensen, Joe Elliot, Doug Thistlethwaite, Gelnaw |

The growth and success of men's epee over the last few years obviously has been due to M.E. events starting first in the past. Now it's time to be fair, start promoting other events and give them their fair shares of 8am starts across the country (no matter what the time zone). |

| Or assume that none of those currently listed in the top-4 would make top-8 no matter what.

| With a field like that it is really going to come down to the details of exactly who fences who in the 16. There are going to be super tough bouts in the 16 (and probably 32 given how hard pools will be). The only thing you can say for sure is that barring some really weird seeding Hansen, Gago, and Lichten should make top-8. Those are the guys who always perform (assuming Gago has been fencing with the guys at LAIFC, since I haven't actually seen him fence in years). The rest of us just going to be grinding it out. My picks for the rest of the 8:
Ordody
Stephan (he has disappeared from the registration, so if that keeps up, obviously he won't place)
two of three: Raynis, Carnahan, Mo
Shaginian
But the kids will be most prone to upset, since there are a lot of good fencers with much more experience. Thistlewaite (if he seeds well in pools), Bethel, Gegan (I don't place him higher because though he usually places well, but I haven't watched him while he is fencing his best). Notable absence of someone who could be in the top-8 is Clawson. |

| Maybe not Athos... I think I remembered wrong -- they were at Atlanta. It was probably EMFC's shop or something.
