    King Cakes!

Does anyone remember King Cakes? I was just thinking about the last time I bought a King Cake for Mardi Gras. They're simple yeast breads shaped like a danish, but they have different color sprinkles on them, blue, purple, green, yellow and red. We bought them at work and during break we'd have a piece of cake. If you got 'the baby' [which was a little plastic baby], you'd have to buy the next one. And so it went for several weeks until Mardi Gras Day.

We had a King's Cake in our office this year, and I had to explain to several people what the heck it was. I think we're too far away from New Orleans for most people to know what the deal is. (I'm under the impression its a Mardi Gras tradition, is that right?)

We used to get them at my old job, from our contractors in New Orleans. I did miss having some this year, but I think that going to school is better than a piece of cake.

I'm glad it caught on, it's a nice tradition and way to get people together for coffee-clatch. I started to miss New Orleans again. It was my favorite city in the world.

I think its called gallet du roi

    or something like that.

We have French people in our division. I love them. They feed me foie gras. If I had to commit war crimes for foie gras... well I guess I wouldnt but it would be close.

Now, if I had to for this one beautiful fencer I met once...entire civilizations would disappear if it pleased her. Siiiiiigh....
