| Coolest trophy ever Hey everyone, so I got into a discussion with some pals earlier regarding what the coolest trophies/prizes we have seen given out at tournaments. Personally I believe the rock trophies at the Sword in the Stone in Columbia, SC are cool. However people in the discussion claimed that some plaques were really cool and some people said they just like medals.
Therefore I would like to know what people consider the best prizes are. I would post a picture of the SitS trophy, but I certainly have not won one yet. (came in 5th one year... so close!) enjoy.

| In Sweden there's a tank unit arranging an annual (military) fencing competition. Their prizes really can't be beat; medalling teams are awarded a section from a tank 'wheel belt' and individual prizes are shells from tank grenades of different caliber*. (All cleaned and polished, of course.) * There are examples n my photo album.

| A Leon Auriol bobble head doll. I have two of them and they rock.
Alright, not as cool as tank parts, but very unique.

I agree, tank part trophies sounds like a cool prize. Then again, I'm a sucker for tournaments that offer almost anything unique or close to it.

| Titanic Open My favorites are from the Titanic open. For first place one year our son won a medal made of etched glass with a fencer on it - like standing on the iceberg. Second and third were life preservers. The following year first place got life boats. No idea what this year was as he aged out.

| Cool things I've won?
a large broadsword
a folding pocketknife
a small samurai sword
the Cherry Blossom engraving
a bottle of champagne (wouldn't give it to me though since I wasn't 21 at the time...)
money, money, money!
My favorite medal is from the Crescent City Open, it's really big and heavy and custom made, not generic like most medals tend to be.
I do tend to prefer tournaments with unique prizes, gives some extra incentive to attend and do well, especially if there's really nothing else at stake.

We all got rubber duckies and pirate lollipops. |

| San Antonio Tournament There was a tournament in San Antonio in the '60's that was sponsored by an artist/sculpturer. She made sculptures out of broken foil blades for the trophies. I never won one, but they were way cool.
