Prise de Fer SYC Feedback Thread

Just what it sounds like. For those who attended the event, what did you like? What could be improved?

First class event. The venue is excellent, lots of space, grounded stips, scoring machines that display score and time so we don't have to guess whats going on. You had a vendor and food on site, which makes bumps go away. You had a set off room for finals and awards. This gave those bouts a greater degree of focus and appreciation. Good directors in our Y10 event, explained things clearly to the kids. Didn't treat them like seniors or babies. All greatly appreciated.

The only thing I can suggest to improve is the pools/de calling. I am use to calls of "Seeding list is posted" and "DE Tableu is posted" for review and strip assignments. That also servers as a warning that bouts are about to happen, get your stuff together and get ready to fence. I don't think those happened (At least, I didn't hear them), so we were caught off guard with immediate, "report to strip" calls.

Q:There as a guy doing video in the finals room, whats that for?

The PDF crew >prides< themselves on having the fastest turnaround possible between pools and DE's. What you are offering as feedback of something that could be improved, they will see as proof that they are doing it "right."

Thanks for the feedback, Chris. As for the video, I believe that the intent is to cut together a finals DVD of the SYC that parents can buy. Don't know the details of that, but I'll ask Dave and see if I can get a more complete answer.
