Array Name on jacket Hello all,
I was wondering if I should get my last name on the back of my jacket. I'm going to get an FIE jacket. I...
-Will be attending Junior Sectionals
-Will not be attending any national events
Questions:
-Will I come off as arrogant? A tool?
-Should I get it now before I wash the jacket, or can I get it on during the lifespan that i wear the jacket?
Any input helps!
Thanks

If you are sure the jacket will fit get your name put on it. Most of your peers at junior sectionals will probably already have thier names on thier uniform, you will not look arrogant or like a tool. In fact, the sectional might require that you have your name and your jacket or leg - it will be painful to have to write that with a marker on your spiffy new jacket.
I don't know that putting your name on your jacket before you wash it increases the lifespan of the lettering. However, when you do go to a national competition already having your name on your jacket will be one less thing to have to deal with when you get there.

I'll go ahead and do it. Some people at my club have their name on their jacket and don't fence at national tournaments. I fence epee, so I'll put it on the back, since I'll eventually change my pants. -

Array What's your last name? See if the vender you order from offers to put your name on it for you. I'd put my name on it soon as I get it. ↕ Embrace both lines.

Array You will only look like a tool if you get your country on there and never fence internationally. -

One of my left-handed team mates nicely gave me an old jacket to wear. Since on occasion I also do competitions lefty and thier name on the back was faded enough, I had my name stenciled over it. The Marx's also, unfortunately, re-stenciled the USA. Talk about feeling like an idiot.

Array For all newcomers to f-net, Craig really should mention Mr. E's... ahem humour as part of their intro letter.

Array Ahhh... well then if you hate "America" the group then, I'll have to side with Mr. E, I liked the song "Sister Golden Hair", but some of their other songs I didn't like as much. Array Isn't name and country required for NACs, since they also include Canadian and Mexican fencers? I was under the impression Summer National required name only. -

Array NACs and Summer Nationals only require name.
Only FIE events require country: World Cups, World Championships, Olympics -
