| Writing Council I want to propose the formation of a writing council. We need it, badly.
First: I think the members should be Arcon, Zelda, Moonitic, Dame/Ledgerto, FencingAngel, and Swordsman.
No offense intended to anybody else, but these are the six original main authors, present from before the "Aftermath" thread started. I'd also like to propose that these be the only six to post on this thread; anybody else can make their views known on another thread.
I have three things I'd like to address with the council, that I think need to be done with the writing.
1. The use of magic/sorcery in the stories.
2. The number of storylines going on.
3. The lack of fencing content.
1. I'm sorry, but I am very simply opposed to the depiction of magic and sorcery in any kind of writing, TV, etc., on religious grounds. When Arconia started, we had none, and it's gradually been increasing in volume. I'd like to cut it back, or out entirely. (Sorry, Willow)
2. Well, it's turning into a soap opera. Everybody's running around on different adventures, which is all well and good - so long as we can keep the stories straight, and get people in one place at one time. I've done this too, putting people in another place when they were supposed to be somewhere else. I think we just need to slow down, and take time to make sure we know what's going on. If you're writing something long, go offline, type it in Word, then go online, re-check what's going on, make any necessary changes, and copy/poste. (Paste + post = poste) This should greatly reduce confusion.
3. This isn't a real big one, but when we started out, it was a kingdom of fencers. Moonitic's "torture" when captured was having to fence with bad directors and faulty equipment. What are the chances of heading back towards that? I just thought it was more funny and light-hearted that way.
Feedback, please!

| personaly i like the idea of "tourtre" being like that.. this whole thing went down when george posted the thing about moon.. i am only 15.. and i am sure there are people younger here.. but i have one thing that i would like to say about it all.. if you have a post that would offend a child DON'T post it.. simple as that.. cause i know that we have a 11 year old here.. so think of it that way.. sure one day they are going to find it.. but lets not let anyone find that crap here.. |

| Swordsman, I dont like being insulted either
.....believe me it gets old after a while.
This best thing we can do is to make our protest and then let it go. WE dont run this website. Im not at all sure we can expect Craig to monitor us. He is very busy.
WE need to find a way to deal with this ourselves. If it does persist in a manner that continues to be highly offensive. Im sure at some point Craig will put an end to it.
Im sure he wants this site to be and remain a clean and respectable website for all ages.
Im not sure its the fencingsucks group thats doing this...maybe it is maybe it isnt.
Fencing.Net is in my opinion one of the most respectable fencing sites on the Web.
Whats allowed on some fencing sites is not allowed here.
Ill do anything i can to help deal with this.
Personally.....the first time someone steps over the line like this.....i dont think anyone on the site should have anything to say to them. Completely ignore them.
A hungry Dragon runs out of fire.

| GW, as much as I don't like the stuff you post here, even you should be able to see the difference. Is there anything REALLY that bad about what we write? I know you don't think it should be here, but even you said you don't mind fantasy writing. What "355" posted was just sick and offensive. And if you don't find it as such...well, I'm worried.

| I'd really like to know the following:
1. What qualifies GW as a professional? Obviously, he is so opinionated about writing, he MUST be a professional. Editor? Critic? If so, for whom? Which newspaper? Which publisher? How about some credibility if you're going to talk trash about others?
2. When did this board become a place for publishers and/or editors to choose stories? The last time I checked, they don't go to message boards to choose their next big projects. They're far too busy for such trivial things. Also, when did this board become a place for professional writers? Obviously GW seems to think that the writing must be perfect, and the stories must have some deep literary quality to be included here. Of course, that goes back to the first question...what qualifies GW as someone who is able to make these decisions?
That said, I would like to point out that GW (& his new little playmate) only seem to visit Fantasy Land on this site, and only complain. Not once have either contributed to any fencing conversation. Instead, they come here to cause trouble. If they're fencers, shouldn't they discuss fencing? Not who is bonking whom? Not lies? Not complaints? Seriously. It's all about credibility. Maybe if he contributed to the general discussion in a sincere fashion, he would have a sincere claim to back up his complaints. Instead, it is just ramblings and twisted tales made up to make people look bad. Who is the person with the real problem? The ones engaging in harmless fantasy writing...or the ones going out of their way to harass and attack?
The funny thing is, they're only harming themselves. All the negative energy that they're putting into this campaign to get rid of Fantasy Land (sorry, it's not yours to get rid of...you don't even post at fencing.net, so you have no real claim to the board) will come back on them someday. It's completely unhealthy. So, let's just ignore them, let their attitude only harm them, & continue to have some fun. Okay? Forget them. They want the attention in any way that they can get it. Maybe their parents don't give them enough love at home.

| "Negative energy"? Umm...alright...
You know, there's no rule that says this writing has to be good. It's for the author's enjoyment, not the reader's...
And also, I don't think the writing's that bad.
And actally, while I'm at it, learn to read context, GW. I'm not talking about quality of the writing, I'm talking about the content. We don't have explicit sexual content. Neither do you, but who knows where that will go...

| As a qualified expert in these matters (I'm in high school), I will now approximate 355's school grade, and thus age, by his insults. Let's take a look...
Bad re-do of the name: Suggests lower middle-school (Probably not elementary, due to the creative effort required). Also note that he must have gone back to previous posts to get the name. This suggests a certain level of familiarity with the forum; he's been reading it a bunch. Why read so much when you're just trying to take it apart?
Impersonates target to do belittling things: Decidedly 4th grade.
"Crying like a baby" becomes "somebody change my diaper". He starts to take his simile (Or metaphor? I can never remember which is which...) seriously, relative to the rest of the insult. Definitely a slip-up, and together with using "baby" and "change my diaper" as insults, points to 3rd grade, or later 2nd.
Considering all things, I'd have to guess "355" to be a toddler, or else a very advanced poodle.

why am I bothering? You lot can't read anyway. Instead of an expletive, you put four *s.
Now that's comnnvenient, as you can't spell, and to make sure you get four *s, you just type them until you lose count. Fair enough, four is a big number for someone with your combined mental capacity, and IF they ever invented Artificial intelligence, your computers would et very easilly bored with you.

The quote was from "Full Metal Jacket" a great film that can be enjoyed on many levels. (Maybe Zelda could start burning VHS tapes as well)

I seem to recall you giving Moon a ribbing for replying to a question of mine regarding music in another thread. Funny how things change to suit you.
Don't quote me without my expressed permission either. You see, I can quote you, because you are inferior to an ashtray.
