Refs, what say you? |

| I think I remember seeing some "entrance music" in one of the CIP videos. It was just generic techno music they played during the finals while the fencers were walking to the strip (this was also when they announced their names).
As for your idea: If you think you can get away with being goofy at this particular tournament then go ahead. You might really irritate the ref or your opponent, and the ref might actually card you for it.
In baseball, there's a rule associated with base running where they call you out if you run in the bases in reverse order to make a travesty of the game. I've always loved that rule. Travesty of the game.
My entrance music would be this, brother.

| Are you the tournament organizer? Are you allied with the tournament organizer? Are there any other bouts you might disrupt?
At the Grand Prix in Vegas before the final Team Match I believe they made a grand entrance by both teams involving shadows on a curtain. |

| If its my strip, and you do it quickly, and its not too loud, I might allow it at a local event. MAYBE, depending on my mood. If its a NAC, no.
However, I should caution you to not do this if your about to get demolished...
In highschool, I qualified for the individuals portion of a district event. I was the only one from my team to do so, so they were pretty excited. So, before my first bout, like 9 guys from my team did this big elaborate cheer without my knowledge.
Now, Im not a great fencer. I was a decent HS fencer. E07. My first bout happened to be against John Gurrieri. He is an A who now fences for Yale. He promptly wrecked me with 5 crazy back flicks. Don't do something big and grandiose unless its going to be a big grandiose bout.
But seriously man, just use an ipod...

That said, if you do in an early round (in the round of 16 or before, that is), you WILL look like a tool. I don't mind the fencers putting on a show in the finals, because the organizers should be. Since they're falling down on the job, why not let the fencers pick up the slack?

All of the above use intro music. All of the above put on a show for the spectators. All of the above HAVE spectators. Fencing doesn't for the most part. Personally, I see that as a bad thing.
Is intro music going to magically transform our sport's popularity? of course not. but it doesn't hurt. At the very least it'll make it more entertaining for those of us who are there.

| At the Midwest Conference Championships, they played the theme from Kill Bill when introducing the top 8 in each weapon and--if I remember correctly--when introducing the team championship in each weapon.
I thought it was pretty cool, but they didn't do it this year. I don't know if it was copyright infringement, lack of time, lack of PA access, or irritation from coaches.
However, there's a big difference between the venue playing an entrance theme and you playing one. It's the same sort of difference between a spectator yelling "great touch" and clapping after you score and you doing it for yourself. It just sounds like a great way to look like a complete idiot.

| At UT baseball games, each player has a theme song clip (one of them is the Top Gun theme...) that gets played every time they come up to bat. I'm sure it happens elsewhere as well.
That said, don't be delaying bouts on my strip for whatever reason. |

Let's do this, music, fireworks, boxing bell. Can we make this happen by nationals? Oh wait, no money, I forgot. |
