| USFA going for the gold Now that some of the US Olympians have been chosen, does the USFA provide any support or help for the US Olympians to help them win gold?

| No, they're cut loose and all their performance funding withdrawn. |

| Two words: Home Depot. (Which, by the way, does have a great program for providing flexible part-time work for Olympic and Paralympic athletes, to HD's credit)
It depends on the weapon program. The last word we've received in WS is that they don't know for sure. The expectation is that there will be some support of travel and lodging for the 4 team members as they finish out the season through the Zonals in Mexico in July. It is unclear what the level of funding might be.
Travel to and lodging at the Games is covered by the USOC, one would assume.

| USOC Funding This is from the USOC website:
Q: How is the U.S. Olympic Movement funded?
A: In the United States, the Olympic effort is unique in that it is funded by contributions from private citizens and by major support from the corporate community. The U.S. Olympic Committee is one of only a few of the current 198 NOCs that receives no continuous federal government subsidy. The USOC also operates a direct marketing program, which includes direct mail contribution solicitations and mail order purchases of USOC-licensed apparel and items through distribution of catalogs, flyers, magazine advertising and an online store on the USOC's web site.

Now that the team is set, and the alternate has no position to fence in the individual event, will they get frozen out of USOC largesse? After all, from the USOC perspective, what is the benefit of continuing to support the #4 fencer in individual competitions from April 1st thru the Olys?
I personally think they should, but since the whole USOC restraining order thing blew up, they've not been returning any of my phone calls.

| Darn. It looks like the "I was being facetious" icon is malfunctioning again!
For the record, the USOC does not have a restraining order in place aimed at me.
Well...that I know of....
